Hi all, I just bought a camera yesterday in black friday sale and I got a call from the seller that I need to buy some kind of lens filters to enhance the image quality and protect the lens. He said I need to buy warming, polarizing and UV filters. Also, a lens hood. I dont know what to do coz I don't have any idea about these things. And, its not a SLR or DSLR ..its a bridge camera.

Don't buy any lens filter if it is not a DSLR. Just shoot as is. The cheap lens filter actually degrade the photo quality than improve.

the seller is trying to oversell, don't buy any filters. However, if you're worried that you might damage your lens by scratching it or dropping the camera, a cheap UV filter might help; usually costs 2-3 bucks. But be aware that cheap UV filter will degrade picture quality (unclear picture, ghosting when shooting with indoor lighting or in direct sun/moonlight, etc). If you take good care of camera and handle it well, you don't need a UV filter to protect the lens.
Bottomline, don't waste money on filters. A set of good UV, polarizing, and ND filter will cost you roughly the price you paid for your camera itself. Anything cheap is crap. Just tell your seller that you are not interested in any filters for now and will contact them if you need some later.

Kittys, yes you can get filters that'll give reddish/greenish, etc tint to your pictures but, like I said above, good ones are expensive and cheap ones will degrade picture quality. On top of that, most cameras can do that without using any filters - you need to play with the white balance settings and also color modes. If you're still not satisfied with the in-camera settings, you cal always post-process the pictures using photoshop or similar softwares.

p.s. most legit sellers don't contact their buyers and try to sell more stuff. Where did you buy your camera? Can you share the link?

I agree wih jantare1. However I bought one uv filter for my 50mm/1.8 prime lens. When tested out the pic quality really degrades.

you probably won't need a lens hood either. I have one that  came with my camera but I never use it. If you shoot a lot in direct sunlight, you might need one to block some sun to prevent glaring/ghosting.
In case of megazooms, lens hoods are usually attached to the lens housing, not screwed to the lens itself.  Your's can be different. If you really want to buy one, just do a quick search on what kind of hood people use for the camera you have and buy it.

kittys, price varies quite a lot depending on the type, size, brand, and coating of the filter. let's say, a few bucks to over 50 bucks for some nice ones. instead of spending money on the filters, degrading picture quality, and going through hassale of mounting and unmounting the filters, i'd rather suggest you to learn to play with the white and color balance on your camera and learn to use editing softwares for that purpose - much cheaper and easier alternative.
