Hello guys
I have the ATT iphone and its already 2 years so I am elligible for upgrade. I am wondering if anyone of you have canceled the data plan and keep using the phone.
In other words can you use Iphone4 without data plan in ATT? I stopped by ATT and they said NO, just seeing if there is an option.

As far as i know user must choose one data plan in ATT.doesnt matter if you are in contract or without contract. My suggestion is why don't you unlock ur iPhone and use with different carrier like t-mobile, simple mobile etc. it will cheaper than att. u can call on this number: 18003310500 (ATT customer service)to unlock your Iphone. they wont charge anything you if u qualify.

I like the idea of Pepsi. I will call them if they are willing to cancel the data plan. I will get new phone with dataplan, upgrading to family plan.

Thanks

Get a flip phone if you don't need a data plan.

pepsi, first of all AT&T won't agree to cancel the dataplan even if your contract is over. I have tried myself calling them to cancel the plan after my contract was over. They didn't agree. They said if you are carrying a smartphone then you must have a dataplan otherwise just carry other phone. It is not only for iphone but it is for all smartphone. I know it sounds stupid but that is the truth about AT&T.
Correct me if I am wrong

I am sure you can cancel the data plan and use iphone4. It does not matter if your contract is off or on. The only thing you have to do is call them and say that you lost your iphone and that, now, you are using a simple phone set, not a smartphone. They will ask you what kind of phone you are using, so better find one old phone and give them the IMEI number. The IMEI number of the phone can be found  hen you take the battery out from it, somerwhere near where you insert the SIM card. I have done it, so it will work.
