This is pretty whacky. In china people cannot invest outside the country so they are investing in ghost cities with the hope that one day the cities will be inhabited and that the real estate price will keep increasing.
They actually have many cities that goes for miles and miles with many high rise buildings, stadiums and everything a city needs, but they are all empty! They should open up these cities for rent by Nepalis who can afford it, so Nepalis can migrate there into a nice city with electricity, clean water and Nepali neighbors

Bittertruth I found this very interesting too. If you do a search in youtube for "china ghost cities' you will see that china has at least 10 of these ghost cities. Interestingly there are ghost cities in Africa and even in Spain.

I saw this a couple of years back. There are ghost cities even in USA but China's ghost cities are a bit different in the sense they are failed commercial ventures. I wonder what is the latest news on these cities. I wonder how long China can sustain such a fake "growth" story. They were building whole cities in many places hoping that people would migrate there and live there in future.
People had been predicting a real estate collapse due to this but China is still "growing". Perhaps in a few years we will know and what is the real story. In fact, i once read an article by a Chinese expert based overseas that chinese figures for its growth are all manipulated and has no basis.
