RASUWA, MAR 30:Nepal has started to export fresh water of the Himalaya to East Asia from Friday. The natural spring water from the high Himalayan glaciers of Rasuwa, inside the Langtang National Park area, is bottled at Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa.
Himalayas Spring Water, a joint venture company of HSW Korea and Muktishree Pvt. Limited, Nepal, produces Himalayas Ontop PET bottled spring water.
The company has started the official export of Nepal's water to Korea and Hong Kong amidst a special function organised here Friday.
Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Basudev Ghimire, Company's chairmen duo Yong Lyel Ryu and Arun Raj Sumargi officially announced the export of Nepal's water to Korea and Hong Kong.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman and chief executive officer Ryu said that the company would export the bottled spring water to Korea and Hong Hong.
"We have already singed agreements with the companies in Korea and Hong Kong for the export of the bottled spring water," he said adding, " The company has also talked to various other companies all over the world for exporting water."
"We have received positive responses from the companies in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates too. We might export our water to these countries very soon," he said.
Talking to The Rising Nepal, chairman Sumargi said that the export of water to Korea and Hong Kong was the matter of pride for the country and its people.
“As the export of water has added one more product in the list of Nepal’s exportable products, which is colossal and has no competition with any country,” he said adding, “It has huge potential to compensate the trade deficit caused by the import of oil.”
