Hello:
I was trying to take off Administrative password  and download couple software  and I was able to change it.

I strarted microsoft essential and Norton virus scan yesterday night aroung 11;18 pm. Now it is 11:57 am which is over 12 hours but on the screen the time lasped is 5:27:21.
On the botton it warns malicious or potentially unwanted software might exit on my system.

On Norton, started same time so far it has scanned only 896920 which is 1/3 less scanned than MS essential. It has detecte 6 security risk and resolved 6.

Is the virus not letting it to complete?

Apparently yes,

as a rule of thumb you should always close any/all antivirus when you install any software. Close out and reboot – disable yr AV as you come back - - It should work

who told you to run two antivirus softwares at the same time? They never work that way.
And your selection of antivirus, esp. Norton , thats the worst piece of junk known to mankind.
Download malwarebytes, quick scan and remove the threats. Then full scan afterwards if you've time.
Run AVG 30 day trial to take your cleaning to next level. Do yourself a favor get those junks out of your system, I mean NORTON.
And, MSE at times is sluggish as hell. When it can't remove the threat, it freezes your PC, not really, but eats up your resources trying to remove it. I've core i7 intel 2nd gen CPU clocked at 3GHz with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and believe me, MSE did that to me couple of time, slowed my system. I had to bruteforce kill to bring it back to life.
So, long story short, it's not that virus which is not letting it complete, it's your two antivirus engine probably conflicting and not letting it done. Virus striken PCs normally don't let you change your administrative password, let alone running your antivirus softwares.

Few put two and  some people know, not to run two antiviruses software at a time. I thought two scan at time will save my time. I got Norton free from Comcast, MacAfee was the worst.Something is better than nothing.

You are right: when I had only 2 gb ram sometimes it used 80% resources as you said. Now it is 6 gb, do not feel much different.

I got exact 6 intrude on other laptop too: Thank you.
