I have a green card through asylum in united states. i was wondering do i need to get an indian visa to travel to india. If so, my nepali visa on my passport  is already expired and i think i can't use my passport anymore as i am an asylee. I do have my travel document though and tried to get an indian visa on my travel document but the indian embassy said i have to wait like 6 months to get an visa on my travel document. My travel document is only valid untill may 2014 and i cant go before that because i have classes. Anybody who is an asylee and travelled to india. please help. and if you have can you tell me all the procedures to travel to india.

what do you mean by your nepali visa on your passport is expired? If you have an unexpired Nepali passport, you are good to go. No Visa required to travel to India. But if you apply for Indian Visa on your travel document, forget it. They won't give it to you. I know few people whose visa were rejected.

Does the travel document list you are a citizen of Nepal? If yes, then shouldn't that and your citizenship card be enough to travel to India? Even though your status is PR/asylee, your nationality is still Nepali, so it should be okay to go that way. but I dont know Immigration officers in India are.
