Nepal Oil Limited has been operating in a huge loss for a while now. It sells gasoline/kerosene for a price cheaper than what it costs the Corporation. Everytime our government raises the price, people come to the street to oppose the price hike. Current government, fearing unrest, is unwilling to raise the price and the Corporation is now asking the Government for money. Where does the Government get the money? From us mainly (or we beg outside).
Given this situation, does anybody suggest keeping the price where it is? Should Government be that powerless? How can any country operate with this kind of loss?
