Currently I am a employee. My Opt expires on April 2nd 2014, I have applied for the green card (Change of status through spouse). I just received confirmation email from uscis and my case is in progress. What will be my status after April 2nd 2014 if my process is still in progress by than? Will I be able to work without work permit? While filing for green card, I did not applied for work permit. Do I need to apply for work permit? what are my option as far as being able to legally work while my process is in progress. Thank you.

If your GC is on process and you OPT is expiring then I don't believe you will be eligible to work however you will be in status, since you you have process in place through your spouse. If you want to work beyond that point and and your GC process is not compete, the only way I see is to apply for H1B or get CPT from any of the available college util your GC gets approved. In your case if your marriage is legit and your are confirm of getting the GC then i would suggest CPT as a temporary solution.
