Not trying to be a smart ass, but wouldn't thus question be best answered by calling Scottrade?

If you want to get money out of Scottrade then what you should do is fill out a wire transfer form (have your brother fill out a form providing account number and signature with it)... If the funds are available (ie, funds available without selling stocks) then they will wire transfer you the money in the account number provided.

If you have to sell stock first then you should login to scottrade and sell the stock then have them wire transfer it by filling out the same form....

It's not that hard..

Since your bro has an account with Scottrade, he may have received Scottrade Visa/MC debit card.

If he has activated and have that with him in Nepal, its easier for him to logged in to his account, sell some stocks if needed for cash,  and with the same Scottrade debit card he can send money to any Western Union location in US.  You just go and pick  up $$$$$$  within a minute.

No need to fill up a form, no need to call anybody. Job done.

This is why I am saying why don't people ask the company themselves?

I have an acct with Scottrade and I never received a debit card. Wire transfer idea sounds legit but if you have established and verified bank accts then transfer might be easier and faster than online wire transfer. Just ask the goddamn company already.

kiddo: As I read the thread came with the same suggestion.

Sajha people has expertise on any field and comfortable asking any question rather getting right answer from right channel.

Have any body felt this situation: If you have any problem at home , instead of discussing within the family , first you sought help from you neighbor. A best scenario:a Sasu is trying to know from neighbor is her my buhari pregnant or not.

@ kiddo, May be you've opened an account with Bank of Nigeria. Here in US, we have debit card from Scotttrade if you have a Scotttrade brokerage account.

Online Banking with Scottrade Bank

Kiddo just got hit by massive fireball anyway hey TB why don't you just call the company and ask as much question you have with the representative. That's what they are hired for. They have all the answers and possible options, all you need to do is call them. Simple as it is.

Scottrade Brokerage account (that you refer to) and Scottrade banks are TWO DIFFERENT things!!! What you posted is a promotion for Scottrade bank which is like any other bank that issues Debit card. The OP clearly stated he had his brother invest in Scottrade, i.e. Brokerage Account. Again, I have a brokerage account and don't have any debit card.

See below:

@kiddo: Seriously. REally?!!! Do you know how brokerage account works?

Let suppose you sold a stock and made a profit from a brokerage account, and if you want to spend or use that profit you must transfer to Scottrade banking account.  You can't use directly from brokerage account.

Scottrade Brokerage account is for investment activity and Scottrade banking account is for spending activity.  Both are within the Scottrade.

Its like if you live in an Apartment, bedroom is for sleeping, and bathroom for dumping..sh*t.

Same thing, if you have an account with Scottrade you need to have Brokerage account and Scottrade banking account for your money to circulate.

Show me how is your Scottrade Website looks like. Better be different than What I have posted and you've posted.

S.i.S.
I seriously don't have time and patience to keep answering your illogical questions and childish jabs. I already told you I have a Scottrade Acct and I don't have a debit card. You have to open a separate bank account (which I don't have neither I think the OP has) to get the Debit card. You don't need Banking account to invest from Scottrade (you can link to your other bank).

Why don't you do this, goto Scottrade.com and open a chat window. Ask a rep there whether having a Brokerage account will get you a Debit card or you have to open a Scottrade Bank Account as well. If the person says you will get Debit card with just your brokerage account then I will pay you $1000. If a Scottrade Brokerage acct doesn't get you the Debit card, you have to donate $25 to the Charity of my choosing. Talk is cheap, let me see you put money where your mouth is.

Mikel, I don't hear you commenting now.

Takme, I will still ask you to give them a call ((800) 619-7283).
What I know is that you can transfer money to the bank that you have already linked in Scottrade. You don't need Scottrade Bank (as somebody is claiming above), you just have to link the external bank to your Scottrade brokerage account. My guess is your account has not been linked/verified in your brother's account. Maybe he can start the process of adding your checking account (this is under "Transfer Funds" option in the left). They will go through verification process then he can transfer fund to your account, it typically takes 1-2 days per my recollection.
Again, there might be a better way to transfer fund, so call them up.
