A major political analysis corporation that deals with predicting world politics, Einstein Polystats based in California, has come up with a pro bono case study for predicting the date when the Constitution of Nepal will be promulgated. The case caught their attention when their intern from Nepal, Mr. Hardik Dixit urged them to do this analysis for him this one time.

The corporation has indicated that the research is based on pure mathematics.

The research has found that it will take approximately 19 years of continuous discussion.

The breakdown of the logic was as follows:
  • Current constitution of Nepal (http://www.spcbn.org.np/resources/interim.pdf) has 164 major points, each of which have 10 sub points on average. 10 subpoints is a conservative number. Hence a total of 164 x 10 = 1640 points to agree on

  • Interim parliament has 600 members, so if each person takes 10 minutes to discuss each point, then the minutes taken would be 1640 x 10 x 600 = 9480000 minutes

  • 9480000 minutes = 9480000/60 = 164000 hours

  • 164000 hours = 164000/24 = 6833 days

  • 6833 days = 6833/365 = 18.7 years

  • 18.7 years worth of discussion can be completed in 18.7x100/33 = 56.67 years if they discussed 8 hours a day 7 days a week

Hence 56.67 years.

The breaking news has sent a wave of relief to the parliament members. The interim PM expressed - "Since we apparently have a lot of time left, we will be taking our own sweet time."
