I was wondering if folks in sajha could share their experience of filling green card through marriage to a US citizen. I did a lot of research about the process but just want to hear from some folks who have actually done it. Most of the people in internet recommended hiring a lawyer which I am not sure is really necessary.Thanks in advance and let's not have an off topic conversation on this thread.

You don't need a lawyer if you don't have complications like criminal history, divorce etc. There are supporting documents for each and every form you would need provided by USCIS. Follow them to the T and you should be ok.
I-485,I-130,I-765,I-131 (if you need), there are some more forms with I-485 (Medical and affidavit of support etc.)

Correct money order and send it to proper mail address. Arrange them all properly and file them with the money, you should be good.
