Hello,
I am planning to go to Canada as soon as possible for my H1b visa stamping. My project ends in December of 2014. I want to get my passport stamped before my contract ends.
Situation:
MRP is on the way. I do not know how long it is going to take. I have temporary passport with me which is valid for a year. Is it a good idea to have h1b visa stamped on the temporary passport? My h1b expires in 2017. The thing I am concerned is: since the temporary passport is valid only for a year, the visa officer might be issuing visa only till the expiration date on the temporary passport. This could be little stressful because I have to again go for visa renewal the next year.
One other thing is ; which US consulate in Canada is better for H1b stamping. Please suggest the best US consulate and share your experience.

Thanks

Hey 11 11,
I will try to answer your second part, whether you can do the stamping in Canada or not. On October 31st 2014, USCIS insisted that one has to go to home country for H1B stamping.I read this news at murthy.com. I suggest you to go to home country.

Thanks
Ohio

Thanks Ohio for your reply.

I see that there is a  new restrictions for third country nationals getting new visa  in Jamica. I did not see the news that says anything about Canada. And I did not find any information that USCIS has insisted H1b applicants to go back to home country to get visa stamped. May be I missed it.

Could you please share the link here?

This would be very informative for everyone!!

Thanks again.

I believe things have changed from last week. I am not an expert on H1b stamping, just sharing the recent info.
