Ki beech baata Hoina chau baata Khanu parcha tehi bhayera buddhi aayera nepal jitnu bhanda pahila wari pari jitnu parcha. Let's say Prithivi became king in 1799. Popcorn was only introduced to world around 1830. Can anybody explain it. Everyone is welcomed in this debate as long as you keep your civil tongue

1. It's really hard to read Nepali in english script. I have done it myself, but would like to see Nepali in Devnagari and english in english. 2. These are anecdotes, not historical facts. Similar to the drop of yogurt in his foot. Take these things with grain of salt. 3. According to this paper: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/717966, Corn was introduced in China are around 15th century. It wouldn't be impossible for corn to make its way from China to Tibet to Nepal.

Sorry badhijanne Felt lazy to type in Nepali. Anyway according to this it says different story http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture_in_Nepal Introduction of corn or maize in nepal was done in the 60s as a secondary staple food. Before it was only rice. So how can it happen? This type of distortion of history should be condem because they are teaching this as a part of kids curriculum. People like us grew up thinking the story was real. Then started to study more history books. The same story has been in books about Chanakya too while Chandragupt was attacking Pataliputra and failing. Isn't it time to set the record straight. If you read on book about Prithivi Narayan Shah they have completely distorted the history saying people of Kritipur's nose wasn't cut but in fact the Nepali term nakh kattinu was emphasized because they lost the war so Kirtipures couldn't show their face because of loosing the war.
