This is not possible in case of Nepal. Even if it is possible, the cost for a few seconds of warning is too high. For 230 miles it is about 10 seconds. Our locations are 10s of kilometers from the epicenter. Kathmandu would have had about 4 seconds of notice if it was up in Kathmandu. 4 seconds notice is not a very good science to invest upon.

1990 called, they want their video back.

@nepguy21, I don't know if this would be feasible in Nepal or not, but can be experimented. This system has saved thousands of lives in Japan. And you never no where the epicenter would be.

I agree with nepguy21, this can not be the priority for Nepal with the current resources. When people in the village don't even have a radio to listen to, how can they communicate this to village? Do you mean this only for Kathmandu? If you're talking only for urban places, it could be ok. But it is very impractical to think of this in PRESENT NEPAL.

I do not expect the present government will implement such system even if it is practicable in Nepal. TIA doesn't even have paper towels nor hand dryer in washrooms under present administrative system! Expecting a Earthquake Warning System from Sushil's administrative system would be absurd. But, this system can always be an option to prevent further damage in future if Nepal becomes financially capable and technologically open minded.
