Hi Guys,

Its been more than a year I have filed asylum. My case is based on political asylum as most of Nepalese. I am yet to hear anything for my interview. Since Nepal got struck by earthquake, I am going through this guilt and want to withdraw asylum process before they call for interview. I would rather go to school than going through interview. Does anyone know the process of withdrawal of asylum? Also, if I withdraw now, how would it affect my future processing of green card either through my employer or marriage.?

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated!!!

Jholejindagi

@jholejindagi - I don't know the answer to your question, but I am curious to know why you are "going through this guilt". If anything, the earthquake showed us the importance of doing whatever needs to be done to remain in a state of strength (incld. financial strength). Just imagine what would have happened if the destruction the earthquake caused had been as bad as the predictions-- we would've been left with nothing. In the meantime, Americans would go on with their comfortable (relatively speaking) lives and many of us would become "illegals". Why? Just because due to some random chance we happened to be born in a third world country and they happened to be born in the most powerful country on earth? I know I am just incoherently rambling, but I am trying to tell you -- you have nothing to feel guilty about, if that's the primary reason you want to withdraw. If there are other reasons, I hope someone more knowledgeable answers your questions.

Go to local USCis office and tell them you want to withdraw your application. It shouldnt effect your future immigration process. Good luck.

I would like to share my experience. Hopefully, it might be helpful. I started working in some Telecom company after not being able to get in IT industry. My company applied for H1B which got rejected for two times. Finally filed for saranarthi with no other options left, and got work authorization through the same. I waited for 2 years for the interview being out of status in the process,and it happened just before the earthquake. So, folks if you really want to go back, my two cents suggestion is start planning, and save money while waiting for some magic to happen.

Good luck !!

@ jholejindagi,
I can feel you bro when you mention about the guilt. I wish I can go back to Nepal right now and stay for at least a week. But human sentiments won't keep us alive. So, need to keep those rays of hope intact. Keep patience, have plan A & plan B, and act accordingly.

once again good luck for your endeavors.

@all.
Its not choice, its a necessity to feel that guilt, and help our country, and countryman to overcome this natural disaster, and its aftermath.
Help Nepal to rise, and stand stronger than ever.
