I always had a very mixed feeling about what my country should look like. A monarchy, a communist manifestation, a democratic/ republican jungle, A capitalist dreamland....what is it going to be??

Some time I felt, “bheda” Nepali like us should have a dictatorship, a king who can just rule over all of us and push us to do things in his way coz we dont have the brains to decide the right and wrong. Then I realised that I have to think of the marginalized as well so why not a communist/socialist government.

I believe it is important to be aware of your rights. From voting in an election to the benefits that you get from the state, you should know when and where to use it. In my observation, a lot of urban population ignore their benefits, maybe because they are privileged in certain ways or they feel a little hesitant to take a stand for it.

Nevertheless, Yesterday; 20th of September 2015, we Nepali finally got the first draft of OUR constitution. There had been a lot of mixed feeling and response from people but this is my take on the historical event. Nepal has voted twice to see this day.

A constitution promulgation is just a start of an era of changes. It is the beginning of a change. England does not have a written constitution and the US constitution is only of 16 pages or so but since the system is strong, the country has been progressive. Now Nepal needs to start working on creating the system and we will be in the path of the progress ( I guess).

Being a woman, I think there is nothing much in store for us in this constitution. But I am not going to say “this is not my constitution” because laws are amended, constitution will be revised. Being hopeful and positive is what we have to do. This is by the people for the people constitution. You have to understand, a change is a very difficult thing and a lot of people are resilient to change. Coming out of the comfort zone is always hard. :)

We Nepalis have been tolerant and patient for 8 long years. Now this is the new hope. Hope is important for any change. Now a normal Nepali citizen can dream of becoming the President of Nepal. They dont need to be a successor or part of a strong political family.

We are the generation who have seen massive political change in just a span of 20 years from Panchayat system to democratic Monarchy to now Democracy/ Republican state. We have witnessed destruction like Royal Massacre and April 2015 Earthquake which has brought all Nepalis together as well.

This is a change we are giving the generations that will follow us. I hope and I pray that the future generations will thank our generation to take this step to make a difference for them. Till then, Be Nepali, be proud of Nepal and Stay Positive!

Jai Nepali!

Ghanta jasto positive hune? [Disallowed String for - use not allowed] baaun, chettri ra nyaar ko laagi banaako constitution le tapaain jasta educated kathmandu kaa elite lai maatra poscha. Try selling that to a chepang in rural hills or a madhesi in kailali.

Could you tell me how this constitution will stop leakages, build houses for the poor, cease corruption and send kids to school?

Fucking hideous elites, you act like it is going to solve all issues and Nepal will be a next scandivanian nation in 10 years.

Underwear jee,
This was completely my opinion and I am entitled to have one. I strongly think that I have not talked about the greatness of THIS constitution...Please correct yourself in it. I have emphasized on the part that this is just a beginning and if you cannot appreciate it then...I dont have a say!

The talk of the town was,or lets say,the talk of the whole country was,"if you ain't supporting this Constitution, you are an illegal in Nepal",which was, heretofore unheard sentiment from the citizens of Nepal. If some people don't respect their own compatriot's need and wishes, then one can only dubbed them "trouble-maker" at this hr.There are sundry ways to voice the opinions but choosing the only one way could also result into the dead end.No doubt,India will take terai-belt in no less than a decade if everyone's wish is granted, and hell-no,that is acceptable to all the people of Nepal.I might have a bagful of complains about this and that,of the way the country is heading but sometimes things are just out of your hands and one have to see/gaze the collective good of the goody good, which doesn't mean things are like these forever, there is also wait and see and do your thing, and when the time is right, just swing the hammer. If it's the case of "me,me,me" only, then nobody will come to cheer you up or your "Pradesh".Why not, throw the anger of border-line and power for a chunk of Pradesh, why not come aloft of those Pradesh boundaries and see the whole country as a one and a whole. The boundaries are for politicians and netas who seeks elections but not for a Nepali janta, who wish to see Nepal developed and progressed in their lifetime.Hurray and Heyhoo for anything that brings smiles and cheer to the people of this country and I mean the whole country.
