Life is a struggle. A struggle to find permanent satisfaction! However, life itself is impermanent and there is no guarantee of permanent happiness in life. The idea of permanent satisfaction itself is contradictory to the reality of life: a constant flux. In this flux of life, humans try to seek long lasting delight. All human experience is like a flow of river. As river flows unceasingly, experience flows unceasingly in humans. Waking reality experience, dream experience, deep sleep experience, and the cycle continues until the five senses give up because of disease, old age, and death. Not only this, the unmanifest vasana in human psyche is the seed of future births. Who knows in which form and which plane of existence you will be born in your next life! Therefore, watch your thoughts as your destiny depends on your thoughts alone.
Human beings live as if they will never die. They treat other beings as if their life is a permanent life. While acting, they don't think twice about the consequences of their actions. What they are doing is they are seeking some pleasure hoping it will bring permanent satisfaction in their life. However, all the objects in this world is finite and finite objects cannot have the quality of permanence. Human beings are entangled with worldly affairs without knowing the consequences of such entanglement and this is called Samsara (repetitive history). The whole of nature is composed of tiny particles that cannot be seen through naked eyes and yet this invisible particles have somehow managed to create a visible universe! How is it possible that invisible can become visible?
The whole idea of seeking permanent satisfaction in external world is the result of ignorance of who you are and what this world is. Happiness is not located in the outside objects and in the contacts with it, though for the time being such contacts brings a sense of satisfaction. The real problem is not understanding the relationship between subject and objects. Do external objects or events really bring happiness and unhappiness in our lives? Not so. If you closely observe your mind, you will realize that experience are merely experience. They flow through you. However, the ego sense comes in and creates an apparent ownership to these experiences. In other words, you assume that this and that experience (happiness or unhappiness) belongs to you. In reality, no such ownership is possible! Ownership is merely an imagination in your mind. You cannot own anything in this world because to own something there must be something other than you. However, sarvam khalu edam Brahman. Everything verily is Brahman and no true ownership is possible. When this awareness comes in you as a result of direct experience of the oneness of reality, you dive in the ocean of nectar. This oneness of reality is like pure space which is unaffected even if you detonate the most powerful atom bomb. What happens then? You become liberated from the nightmares of this world which doesn't even exist in reality. Hence, happiness is an inside job. Don't react to things or events. Let it flow through you. You are merely witnessing it like pure space. Let the work be done, let there be wars for the sake of bringing justice, but you fix your mind!
