guys , i take keen interest on nepali history and read books articles about it too. it is so different than what is propagated by contemporary books and politicians. please feel free to share the facts if u are interested too.
-despite claiming themselfes rajputs, the gorkhali shahs were either hill thakuris or magars.the geneology of the shahs and shahis in gandaki region and their distinct cultural and physiological similarities with the later is a strong proof. also PN shah himself talks of his mama as the king of palpa which was a kingdom of magar sen rajas.so at least he was half magar.
-the khas and magars spread to eastern nepali hills a lot prior to pn shah time against the common belief that PN or subsequent kings settled them there. in fact the guy who helped the gorkhalis with the logistics of the war with the kirats was a brahmin living in eastern hills.
-along with the maithil people, the valley people were actually the first hindus in nepal .the khas empire was mainly buddhist and shamanist till its end in 12th century. the commoners worshipped masto and kuldeuta etc. while the royals were buddhists.only after 12/13 century did the khas and magars took hinduism through the brahmins fleeing the indian heartland due to muslims.the kathmandu natives were hinduised a lot earlier, even the kirats were hinduised earlier than the khas, magar confederation.
-there was nothing as chhetri in nepal till the rana coup. the khas ,magar and gurung along with thakuri were considered the warrior or 'khando hanne jaat' .
