Upon reading that article all it says is tps is in danger. Well tps is always in danger because it is temporary. Even gc or naturalized citizens are in danger too. And even if you are native born one day you will have no use od thay citizenship because you die. I Thu k you will go back and resume ur f1 status or given chance to get another status. They will give 6 no the warning if they intend to cancel. Stop worrying about an article that says maybe.

Shekhar bro,
First, mind your language, and don't try to be a keyboard warrior.
Second, I am neither a citizen nor a GC holder, and I hold a valid F1 status in US. I wish good for those who have TPS and want it to be extended, because I know what this means to many of the people I know. I don't try to spread unvalidated news and terrorize those who are already in terror of maintaining their VISA along with economic status.

Now coming to the main point, when I said "Nepal ko news thaha paauna Nepal ko patrika dhaaunu pardaina", take that in main context that they write anything without quoting the genuine source. Unless they quote the source or USCIS itself does not publish this, "IT IS NOT FINAL", and I repeat my words, "THE SOURCE CANT BE TRUSTED UNLESS ITS USCIS, not even TRUMP".

If u got something genuine to discuss, I am always ready to discuss and clarify things in friendly way. But first learn to understand things, listen to others, take criticism, ask feedbacks, take feedbacks, be courteous. This will earn you respect. My 2 cents, especially for you.

My best wishes to any TPS holders and all Nepali. Good Luck.

@SuperDad, not trying to be devil's advocate but the Himalayan Times article that Shekhar has quoted is taken directly from Reuters, which unlike CNN, is reputable news source and they always fact-check sources before they say anything.

Another point, Trump Administration is unlikely to gain any political points by banning Nepal, since we're neither Muslim nor Hispanic and might let us slide. I'm not a TPS dhari either, but I'm aware of their situation.

@ Shekhar bro,
Without any doubt, I read nepali online newspaper daily for Nepal based news, but u tried to attack my typo here ("US" ko khabar, instead of "Nepal" ko khabar).
But again, many of the news published in Nepali newspapers, especially on foreign affairs and science news, it needs to be taken with grain of salt. They APPROVE it rather than CITE it, thats why I was saying it.
And I do agree, that I failed to read "REUTERS", but the whole point I am trying to make is, unless its' stated by "DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY/USCIS" it is not a matter to worry.
The title of Your Post itslelf does not convey the same message as the title of Himalayan TImes or Department of States' source. Which I saw as means to sell or market to the audience.

@superdad अाधिकारिक जानकारि त टिपिएस को बारे एप्रिल २३ वा २४ तिर मात्रै अाउछ, (२ महिना अगाडि) अनि के तेतिबेला प्लानिङ गरेर हुन्छ त . he was just quoting the news which was widely circulated in the media about the TPS so whoever we are in TPS status should plan sooner rather than later as immigration status change requires time and planning.
FYI I saw in the twitter official US Embassy Nepal liking the THT post about the same above news so you can deduce its possible implication and its genuinity .

I agree that nepali news source are generally unreliable when it comes to international news. However, in this case, I kind of agree with Shekhar bro. I get it that he was just trying to give a heads up to be prepared for the unpleasant news about the TPS and have a plan B ready before USCIS comes up with this news formally. His argument makes sense in this case.

The entire premise of this back and forth who is right who is wrong argument doesnot make any sense here. The actual news broke on November 3rd on Reuters. The headline precisely said "U.S. State Dept says certain immigrants no longer need protected status: Washington Post".

https://in.reuters.com/article/usa-immigration-protections/u-s-state-dept-says-certain-immigrants-no-longer-need-protected-status-washington-post-idINKBN1D403A

On November 5th Himalayan time published an article titled " US State Dept says immigrants from nine countries including Nepal no longer need protected status"

https://thehimalayantimes.com/nepal/us-state-dept-says-immigrants-nine-countries-including-nepal-no-longer-need-protected-status/

On the same article of Himalayan times it states Central America and Haiti, so something happened during news recycle and during intrepretation of that news.

With all that said, nothing is certain, it might get extended as with the case with South Sudan.
I hope it does. And please let us not bicker over who is right and wrong, please read between the lines.
Cheers my friends.

I am also of the opinion that Nepali news media cannot be trusted let alone to report US Governments decision. Most of the correspondents, columnists are knuckleheads and things get lost in translation. There is absolutely no reason to believe that TPS for Nepal will be cancelled or not extended for another term. As someone said earlier we will have to wait until April of 2018 for any official news regarding TPS. My personal opinion is this, since no rebuilding has been done since the quake DHS will renew TPS for Nepal for another 18 month term. The Nepali activists here in the USA will also start lobbying for another extension soon like last year.

TPS most likely eliminated by Nov, 2018. Make back up plans guys. F1 need to look for colleges and come back to F1 status. F2 need to leave the country and apply again to come back.

@sekhar khanal bro, i am not an expert, however, just read/heard from somewhere that F2 status cannot be reinstated if they have used their EAD card to work...They need to leave the country and reapply for the F2 status. Again, I am not an expert, please consult to the subject matter specialist for more info.

Even they decide to end the TPS, they have to extend it by another term for proper transition. The Himalayan times article makes baseless claim citing Reuters based on unnamed source. The article refers to TPS termination for Sudan and pending decisions on Honduras, Haiti and Nicaragua to predict the decision for Nepal. Over All not - a - good source, just a click bait.
