Hey guys, its great that you are having this gathering.

But I would like to point towards the thread I have started about animal cruelty and vegetarianism.

I hope you listen to me and try to bring as less meat products as possible to this BBQ. There are something called Boca Burgers which are vegetarian burgers but taste just as good as the real thing.

Thanks, guys.

Ok everyone, I've pondered the idea of having a end of summer BBQ. We are in the process of organizing and setting a date which will be suitable for all to attend. If anyone has suggestions or idea for a possible date, please feel free to reply. BBQ will possibly be around the end of Agust.

Ok GBNC Members,

We are organizing our annual Summer BBQ event along with a 5k walk/race on Aug 21 weekend. This event is for us - Boston's Nepali community. Proceeds from the 5K race are going for charity in Nepal.

We need volunteers. Who can help? Let me see some hands.

If the GBNC decides to change the BBQ date and make it before the Aug. 21's weekend then do count me in as a volunteer. I am leaving on the 18th so I guess I will be able to help only before that!

What's up with putting two events in the same weekend???????? I hope the GBNC committee will take that into consideration!

E.S.P where are u.. ??!!
How come you are quiet.. I thought you would be the first one to vounteer.. after reading the long mail from the GBNC PResident...

Well what does this say E.S.P do you know.. ??

People like you like to CRITICIZE... unfortunately.. it is really sad but it is the TRUTH...

Why don't you go back and read the mail adn then read what the GBNC president has written.. then go volunteer...

Incase you are wondering.. I will be there.. helping them out.. I ahve been here for very long time and I alwyas liek to support this organzation.... I am busy liek everyone else.. but still I try to make an effort by goign to their events and try to help them out!!

TO all the fellow NEPALESE (didi, bahini, daju bahi haru)

PLEASE, try to show some support... You can clearly see the effort been put by allthe GBNC members.. you read the GBNC update by the President..
SHOW SOME SUPPORT....

Your support will mean a lot to the ORGANIZATIOn....

show the PRESIDENT that you appreciate the effort.. if all the organization gets is the "critisism" then there will no motivation to move forward.. like waht the president said.. Organization is what people makes it.. so plseeeeee
help them

THank you Prasanna Dhungel for the long and descriptive mail about the Organization.

a-rai I understand your support for the gbnc president and the council and it's all fine and good, I have no complaints there.

It is interesting to note however that the GBNC President is complaining to the public that there is no public involvement or volunteers. Volunteers volunteer because of goodwill. Maybe the goodwill towards GBNC is deteriorating. Maybe the president and the council should be wondering how to earn some goodwill from the community it is 'trying' to represent. Why is GBNC losing it's goodwill asset? Goodwill is accumulated by going out and interacting with all the classes in the community. From what I gather, the current GBNC council is gathering goodwill from the 9to5 working class but that's about it. What about the restaurant workers that compose the major portion of the community who toil 70 plus hours a week yet these are the one who are actually the ones who will volunteer to make the gbnc events a success.

Right now the morale is low in GBNC council because they fail to keep this majority in their mind. GBNC should not be an exclusive club it is becoming with activities mostly centered towards big hi fi career interests. It needs to focus on providing a social outlet for this majority who want to feel a part of this community and be involved. Because they are being constantly ignored by the council they don't want to volunteer anymore. GBNC needs to realize that the 9to5 working class cannot keep the GBNC going, GBNC needs to first bring the community together socially before they can diversify into other activities.

Before complaining about there not being any volunteers, the GBNC president and the council needs to brainstorm why that is the case. Questions like: What can we do to penetrate some of the social groups in boston in order to make them feel a part of GBNC? How can we narrow the divide that exists between the community and GBNC.

Instead of a community centric approach, GBNC has a council centric approach. They are like 'ok, this is what we've been doing for you, why dont' you appreciate what we do. Why don't you help us out or come to the events? There is nothing wrong with us. We're doing what we are supposed to.'

Why don't you try being more community centric than council centric then maybe you can get back the goodwill that is slowly trickling out.

Instead of making it's programming council centric how about making it community centric.

Mr. GBNC President,

Why Sajha gathering in DC and gbnc BBQ programs are in the same date?

Whole summer maa arko din nai navaa ko ho ki kya ho?

GBNC ko gathering maa maanche badhi vayo ki kya ho? Manche dherai vayera ho vane arko pali dekhi na aaula.

Let's see the president's managerial skill, how will he manage to accomodate sajha members (who are also gbnc member, like myself) in BBQ party !!

Peace

Hey GBNC Council Congratulations on thinking up the happy hours. It can't get better than this. Go to a bar get some drinks and call it an event organized. Way to go!

Mr/Miss ESP,

Yes the council has brainstormed on many occasions on what we have done and what we have not done. We know what we have done and where we have failed.

No we have not only catered our programs to 9-5 professionals. We have organized our events on Sundays when our non 9-5 professionals can come. We have organized events for students. We hold informal happy hours during the weekdays so that anyone can come.

ESP, you seem to have great ideas on what GBNC should be doing. WHy don't you come forward and help the council? Why don't you take the lead in organizing the next event that is catered to non 9-5 professionals? GBNC council will extend its financial, logistical and operational support to you.

We need folks like you to come forward and give us light on what we are not doing and show leadership. Come forward. Meet us executive members. Let us convert talk to actions. We welcome you. If we have failed somewhere, we need help from folks like you - cause this is not just my organization - but yours too.

To all the other members,
I am delighted that many are concerned about GBNC. Why don't you channel your concerns to active support? With the limited time we have, there is only so much we can do. If you want something to happen, come forward, join the council. If you don't have the time, at least help us during our programs rather than simply complaining.

A sad habit that many of us Nepalese have is we sit around, talk and complain. We say our organization isn't doing anything, our country isn't doing anything and things are going down the drain.

All I am going to say is merely talks will get us nowhere. We need to channel our frustrations and complains into positive constructive action. Only then will we progress.

IF YOU ARE A NEPALI and a GORKHAI LAD..come forward and help the ORGNIZATIOn other wise.. just shut the F&^% up!!!

I am hoping you have some dignity and pride..what does E.S.P stand for.. Egoistic.. bastard is it.. wild guess.. i would not be surprised if it is correct

A-Rai
you are forgetting that GBNC is a public organization and the public can freely ask any questions. I am not holding any public office so I don't need to come forward and volunteer.
I think you're getting way too over your head about this. Which makes me 100% certain that you are one of the council members who is shirking his duties. na na na you can't tell me to shut the f up because I have raised valid concerns. Why don't you and the council members put a little more time to help the organization meet it's objectives by organizing events instead of finding fault and challanging anyone who asks why there are fewer events this year.
It's sad when a council has to blame the community for not coming forward to volunteer when they're the ones who volunteered to do something in the first place.

If you're as old as you say you are then statements like this

"IF YOU ARE A NEPALI and a GORKHAI LAD..come forward and help the ORGNIZATIOn other wise.. just shut the F&^% up!!! "

doesn't suit you.

Noone is obligated to do anything besides the ones who've taken office to volunteer to do it.
