Hmm.. Nepal's Sangina Baidya's opponent in First Round is
Chen Shih Hsin who she lost to during semiFinals in Asian Taekwando qualification. Chen eventually won the Finals.

Hey, atleast she gave us some hope.
Congratulations Sangina for qualifying. This probably was your last Olympic but I am sure you have inspired many others to follow.

Nepal is still struggling for gaas, baas and Kapas; forget winning in olympics. We need to get out of the stone age so that we can re-prioritize things and give more attention to sports. Just think, how many parents would let their kid live their dream even if they are interested in pursuing a career in sports. Should be glad that someone is at least carrying a flag from Nepal. You would be surprised to know how many Chinese don't even know where Nepal is?

Oh Bedrock....

Its nice to make comments like that right?
I think it would be a good idea if you start some classes that would teach all of us (Nepalese) on how to get out of so called "STONE AGE."

May be its about time to do something. Lets see what your plans are...

The girl who Sangina lost to in the first round eventually got the GOLD medal. Sangina had another chance, but she lost to a Colombian as well.

you need commusim in country to win lots of medal in olympics. If moabadi rules the nepal then nepal will win lot of medals in olympic.

i am not moabadi supporter. The theory of commusim keeps the nation togther and on hold

I think the whole Sangina saga is a bit overhyped since we Nepali had high expections of her as it was the only feel feel good story we could have in the Olympics. Don't take me wrong, she is a great athlete and qualified on the merit, but then, when was her last major win? That was 97 Asian Games when she scored a Gold....and that was 7/8 years ago. So, are we heartbroken by her loss? Definitely. Surprised? Nah !!!

16 officials with 5 athletes to Sydney 2000 Olympics...... How many got lost over there???
I knew a guy who was training for Triathlon (was the best in Nepal, and had won many in US, HongKong, Malayasia) in US for Sydney Olympics 2000. He was supposed to meet up with the team in Sydney when the officials called him and told him that his Olympic Identification card never arrived Kathmandu. So he did not get to go. But once the Olympic games were over and the team and officials arrived in Nepal, someone from the Nepali Sports Committee sent him his ID card. And not to anyone's surprise, his picture on the ID was removed, and bio-data erased; and later on we discovered that some other person (may be official's wife, son, or whoever) had put his/her picture, added his/her bio-date and went as an additional official, got a paid vacation, and enjoyed Sydney.
This is very true.
