Most gruesome hostage slaying fails to move US media

Neeta Maskey

Washington DC, September 2:

The massacre of 12 Nepalis was the largest number of foreign hostages killed at one time by Islamic militants in the US-led war in Iraq. The barbaric act stunned and left the Nepali people reeling with fury, grief and despair. But, it drew only muted reaction from the international community. Statements of shock and condemnation came from a few organisations like the United Nations and Amnesty International. Other than that, the killings were a footnote in world newscast. On the other hand, the plight of the two French journalists held hostage has drawn both international media coverage and condemnation from world leaders. Criticism came even from top Arab leaders, intellectuals and clerics, who often choose not to comment on such crises. Palestinian chief Yassar Arafat, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Libyan president Khadafi among others denounced the kidnapping, but were silent on the slaying of the Nepali workers.

Here in the United States, the Nepali hostage massacre took a ýbackseatý to other news of the day. The kidnappers said the twelve Nepalis were killed for allegedly supporting the US-led war in Iraq. So, one would expect more sympathy from the US than anyone else. But there was little, if any, official US government reaction on the day the news broke. The story of the slain Nepalis was not headline news in America. The Russian and Israeli bombings, which occurred the same day, were perceived as far more important global issues for the US than the tragedy of a small, poor country. The story got pushed down even further in the news line-ups because of the Republican Party convention. It should be noted that the US mediaýs coverage of the slain Nepalis was markedly less than that of American businessman Nicholas Berg, who was beheaded a few months ago by his captors. Only within the past few years have world leaders acknowledged that more should have been done to prevent the 1990s genocide in Rwanda.

Even former President Bill Clinton said that ýone of the greatest regretsý of his presidency was his inaction to stop the tragedy. Western powers did intervene, though belatedly, to stop the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia. Human rights activists say the Rwanda crisis was ignored because it took place in a developing country outside Europe. One can see the same dynamic in the aftermath of the Nepali hostage tragedy. Had the 12 Nepalis been from a developed country, perhaps their deaths would have generated more global media coverage and outrage. The 12 Nepalis were expendable pawns in the anti-US insurgency. Mindful that Nepal is not a major player on the world stage, the kidnappers apparently concluded they could carry out the massacre without repercussions.

yes president was more concerned on his how u call it campaign. Why would he care about Nepali people getting killed in Iraq? All I got to say is, It was our minister's responsibility not us's and they failed to do it.

"we need evolution", nothing else will work so evolution is needed !!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like some group took down Ansar al-Sunna's website! ...see below
-ViV
=============
Complaints filed by LibertyUnites took down the Army of Ansar al-Sunna's website!

Iým pissed off again! This time at US Intelligence for not being on top of these murders using the net to distribute the terror. Itýs clear that the site http://ansar-alsonnah.8k.com was in direct affiliation with the people carrying out these murderous acts! What most of you might have failed to notice is that .8k.com is a service of Freeservers which is a company located in Utah. I have a lot of experience dealing with Freeservers, and still use their service to host some of my other website projects.

The fact that Libertyunites host these videos is one thing because the world has a right to know. The fact that NO ONE is perusing who, how and where these videos were uploaded from baffles my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell is going on? Free hosting companies must take responsible action to report the IP address and host names of the people caring out acts of terror.

The process of alerting hosting companies of terrorist activity could be done automatically by making a simple program to group arrays of IP address from uploading and visiting IPýs. ýwithout damaging the privacy rights of its law abiding customersý

In the mean time these hosting companies allow our Government to claim the BS that these people canýt be tracked down. All this is BS, the Feds, CIA or Police should be at the front door of the computer ownerýs house that uploaded the original content displaying an act of terror with in 30 minutes of these killers uploading it!!

Over the past few months Iýve written letters to the FBI cyber crimes division, Homeland Security, plus other officials to no avail!! Not even a single reply!!

The internet technology they are using can be used against them if people would get their heads out of their asses!!! I am getting very pissed off that a simple minded group of thugs is allowed to rip the world apart. I know for a fact the US is not doing all that it can to fight terror. We must use the technology they are using against them! Track down those responsible and bring them to justice!

Through internet activity you could pin point regions with terror cells, in the USA and abroad! STOP THE MADNESS!!! DEAR GOD PLEASE, THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE MUST HAVE A BRAIN THAT CAN THINK!

As for you evil people that pride yourself in killing innocent people in the name of God, Army of Ansar al-Sunna or any of you! I will take away your ability to hind using the internet. I will track down every site you make and bring it down just like I did today! I will bring awareness to the fact that we can and will find you! You can not hide evil in this world of good people. If we allow evil to embed itself within our cultures itýs because we were lazy and did not take action! Enough of these murders! Track them using the IP trail they left for us to follow, pin point their locations and focus our effects on the ones that are responsible for unleashing the terror.

If I have to Iýll take down the Army of Ansar al-Sunna online presents by myself if I have too! Keep building new sites and Iýll keep bringing them down!

God bless all of you that will support me in taking down websites owned by terrorist and exposing the location of their terror cells and operatives in the USA and abroad!

God will always allow us to out smart evil, we must use all the knowledge and experience in front of us, and take action!

When you join LibertyUnites, you are doing your part to put an end to terror! Staying informed of the facts is the best thng you can do!

United We Stand! In God We Trust!

Blessings
John Coates

I look forward to hearing what some of our members think about me getting the new website for Army of Ansar al-Sunna shut down today.
