Oh yes I forgot to add TINTIN ! :D

When I was in Nepal back in August this year, I saw soooooo many ....like heaps of "Tintin in Tibet" piled up in bookstores @Thamel. When asked the reason behind this , the shopkeepers replied, that the tourists as well as the local people demand this particular edition. Most probably because Nepal is mentioned here.

Nepal is also mentioned in the movie " Sky Captain and the World of tomorrow"...just a teeny itsy bitsy bit. :D

Super Commando Dhruva

Chacha Chaudhary

Bhokal

Dracula Balak (ajha dracula balak le jiundo manchhe ko tauko chhinalera haat ma jhundyayera 'aha khun...mitha khun' bhandai ragat chateko ta jhan klassic lagchha :)

p.s. One thing that makes me sad about Tintin in Tibet is that though they refer to 'Chang' (chamal ferment gareko drink), they actually show people speaking in damned hindi. Its such a shame.....

Superman all the way... LOL!! Used to be a huge Superman comix fan when I was a kid. Somebody gifted me with this Superman comics, I can still remember. This was about the evil Superman, who comes to the earth to kill Superman. He was exactly opposite to what Superman was, yet more powerful than him. Superman had "S" hairstyle on his forhead while the evil one had something like "2" :). Superman was color, while he was black and white... a pure evil. He thrashes Superman so bad until Superman freezes him and throws him out in the Universe ... hehe... Now, why don't they make a movie on something like that?

Others? Madrake... and his sidekick LOTHAR. Mandrake's house was so cool, full of magic. hehe.. remember the group of bad guys called EIGHT??

Betal(Phantom) was so cool, the art was really good. Phantom never shows his face, we used to be very careful reading his comics just to find if his face was shown by mistake. :P Remember his "Hawa mahal" where he moves along with Diana and the sidekick Rex?? :P

Bahadur and his sidekick/lover Bela... oooh!!!

Amar Chitra Katha had really nice art work and was very educative. They used to have one edition on ancient stories of Nepal, which was really good.

Tintin, Asterix and Obelix... eheh.. and the King in Asterix comics who used to get scared that the sky would fall on his head anytime. :P

Remember Daddy and his trouble making son Jojo?
eh...
Spiderman and Heman used to be so cool...
Those were the days.

Oh yeah, remember first Nepali comics? Bhimye or Bhaire... He was something like Rambo. :P When he punches someone, they used to write "Pyachcha".. haha.

that's the best part of the indian comics, the sound effects like Uhhhh, dishum, dhadak, Offff, Dishun Dishun, the guy goes "Ufff Dokha", that was so funny

and jagaltay, you're right about Dracula Balak-that was the classic, kinda spooky and do you remeber "100 foot Danab"? that was a big comic book and cost Indian Rs. 10 or something, was a big deal back then.

I used to enjoy the ones with village scene, farmers, cows etc. I used to spend so much time looking at those pictures and creating that world in my head. Dad used to scold us for reading but we put the coming book inside text book and pretened we were reading textbook. No wondeer, I never became a Doctor.

And what Kalanki said about looking at Phantom's face is sooooo ture. I had forgotten all about it. Thank you Kalanki for brining that up.LOL. I will buy you a coke next time (remember that used to be a big treat in school days?)

if i remember right, mandrek's house was called Xanadu....the place was full of magic...with a shake of his hand, he could change guns into bananas...eheheh....seems hilarious now...but was a gr8 fan back then...

and yet another forgotten hero...bahadur and his lover/sidekick bela....and his faithful dog...forgot the name...

well, gone are the days............but keep it coming guys....

Anyone mentioned Bhokal.
Akbar and Birbal.
I remember Narad.
Tantri Da Mantri was also fun.
Anyone had to read Panchantantra stories? Those were encouraged to be read but were boring. They were fables with morals at the end.
Ramayan stories??
What about those Indian twins? forgot the name!
