Psychology of Dream
Does any body know the psychology of death dream?

I personally believe that dreams are state of mind and we see whatever we think or do during a day, generally.

But sometimes we see strange dreams, which we never thought about!

If somebody has good reasons to explain the psychology behind the death dream, I would be happy to know!!

i was going to get my car fixed, but on the back of my mind there is the insurance bill that i have to pay; the movie that i saw had this guy who with his buddy goes for a wine tasting trip through the vinyards of california but i am not in california, why would i be in the rolling hills with grapes and blue berries and the red berries, i notice the semi on my right is dangerously close the tires are now as tall as my shoulder and i cannot but look at them and see the life of mine rolling and rolling; there used to bea serial in NTV, Mahabharat where in the beginning the wheel rotated through the dark space and the voice said: "main samay hun." the tires rotated and rolled so fast that i could not even see it rolling it was contant and yet it was spinning. the wheel of the semi, the wheel of time and i need to get to work in 20 minutes, no i am going to fix my car. i got dumped last night. that's why i went to see the movie alone. we were going to go see the movie together. but that did not work out. that was just a dream. the semi has now moved to the different lane and i feel relieved. when we went to road trips we would pump our fists and the semi-drivers would blow their horn. that was fun. "sideways" is for losers. i am a loser too. i lost her. through no fault of my own. dyam my car is really making too much noise. it is like when you are sleeping and the phone rings and you see the phone ringing faintly in your dream too...then the ringing becomes louder and louder and you wish somebody would pick the darn phone and the fu*cking phone would just stop ringing but it is ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and it is so loud, so LOUD...and you jerk yourself up...Miles is a loser. he is a writer too. My advise: never go see a loser movie when you have just been dumped. that sucks. you start out laughing at the loser's bad luck and you laugh at Miles because he does never score and he cannot even fu*ck a women who she presenting herself and you laugh at him and you laugh at Miles and suddenly it hits you. You are Miles. You are the loser. and this sh*t is not dream. it is just the reality that you did not want to dream. when you were a child you dream of peeing and the sheets felt warm and then cold. that is what a real movie and the a real dream is like. like miles who wrote a 750 page novel, which was never going to be published and who can drink all the wine in the world and not get drunk. Miles friend scores a chinese-american woman.she is played by Sandra Oh. she is great in the movie. dyam, i like this song in the radio- yeah, if you love somebody set them free... but i like other police songs too. "how fragile we are" that is what we are... we are fragile. but Miles got the message and knocked on the door. there is a slight chance that he will find the love of his life. if only my car would stop making this noise. how to describe it? the mechanic will surely ask. it's like you know the fan that is too near, it whirrs and it moans and it is constant like the phone ringing in a dream. i don't think he will understand what the phone ringing is but he will figure out. maybe he never have had a dream like that but maybe has. i will have to ask. but Mea, she does not love me. i am sure of that now. set them free. set them free. the rolling wheel of the semi and the pumping of the fist to make the horn blow and the psychiarist who said i had control over my mind during the day and even on my dreams. but how can i stop the phone ringing. and how am i going to pay for the insurance. how the fu8ck am i going to pay for the mechanic. i am glad i have warranty. but i do not know if i have it. which car was it that i had extended warranty on? was mea wearing the lace gown that i had bought for her. i am a dumbasz you know. i should have just not open my mouth. i tell my lies to women and they hate me. i lie to women and they love me. i tell the truth and they hate me for my past lies. but the present problem is clear. what is clear? set them free...how fragile we are...now its the Dont stand so close to me. where did i get this CD from? i think sujan burnt it for me. see that was one guy that was a great friend. and we liked same music. except heavy metal crap. zeppelin were gods but megadeath were no gods. the woman on that silver mini-van is eating a dougnnut. dyam, americans are slobs. they are too... i feel bad that i feel that way but they are they are they are they are ... mea was american too... she was not a slop, she was pretty nice by the way, she had this green and voilet tatto of the last supper carved on her torso, from the waist right below her breast...dyam those breasts. but i loved her tattoo, she was my jesus, my last supper, my buddha! you talk too much. that has always been your problem. but f*ck man khutta bhaye jutta kati kati. she was something else. i need to focus. focus. focus. focus. drum beat! focus focus focus focus. dyam you fu*king nearly killed yourself there dude. don't dream and drive.

it is just a three hour walk from Ranke Bhanjyang to Melbothe. just three and a half hours. maximum four hours of walking if we are brisk. and we walked and we walked and we walked. the tea plantations on either side of the dirt road; the evenly tall plants that seemed as flat as cardboard and that in their greenery mad eyou wish you were floating through the enormous floatation of the dark and the light under the limelight of a early morning sun. but then you told me they were not tree plants at all. tea does not grow in such cold a slimate. yes it was freezing. where do i have the energy to venture out into this artic wilderness through the cold and shivering plants that are static and sedentary and finally boring and bland in their conformity. i need the blue the red and the yellow and the voilet and the pink. but the road curved just a bit and the mountains zommed in and out behind curved and the figures of eagles and the piegons fluttered through the mountains until i could walk no more. "the sun is in my eyes." it is just three hours more, keep on walking and when we reach melbothe i will start a fire with the twigs that will crackle and burn and in the glow of the small fire and the altar of warmth i will cook lentil soup. you like lentil soup? sure you do. walk and we will reach there before the evening and walk and through the ridges of the mountains we will carve our way in to the trees; the pines and the firs and we will walk through the bamboes that line the side of this dusty road. and walk. the fire... see the fire in the fireplace- it is warm and it burn. it crackles as the twigs twitch and turn and turn to glowing embers of heat and love. i love you and i loved your parents because they were my fellow countrymen. but look at my shadow...it is getting longer... the evening is falling, the birds in perfect streamline arrowhead flying home to illam and to falemetar, we are going home too... do not tire my child. do not tire. i am your mother. the sun is no longer in your eyes is it? now walk and here hold my hand, we will walk together...the afternoon is the best time of the day don't you think? the color of the afternoon shines even these bland plants to majesty! and those mountains... see those... those glint on the other side of the hill... those are tin roofs of the houses in melbhote... they glisten in the sun so...they charm my heart. and we stopped there by the bhangyang and she took a water bottle out and took a easy, graceful swig. it looked as if she was already in the warm kitchen of our house, our family house where our ancestors had been born and where they had died. what is it with people coming to their homes to die? i had a flash when i reached home, i too will die. the water tasted cold, so cold it sent a shiver down my spine. just three more hours and we are home. walk walk , we are so near just there there see those tins roofs are our houses and walk walk walk we are there just four hours max. and we will drink some hot tea with lots of milk, warm warm warm tea lots of pure cow's milk and thick milky tea...see your shadows it is so long and the sun is setting walk walk just three hours more... we are doing good time. and the birds are going home too. down by the river i looked up at either side and the mountains rose higher than i could see. this was lonely. the river made so much noise. i will smoke and dream here. i can dream in this silence, this barren water noise is strangely silent. i can dream and smoke here but we just have three hours to walk and we are home. it is already dark but we will use this torch light and i will tell you a story. uncle thakur was a strong man. he built the dam and irrigated his corn all by himself and night and day night and day and night and day he worked on his fields. he was a strong man. he had arms that big, he did not need to lift weights, he worked the land. but then one day right here by the river he lost his strength and he fell to his knees and he cried. he has been a wuss since. he cannot do a thing by himself. when he dies i will not cry because that will be deliverance. but that is the end of the story, now the trees look like ghosts, they are dark and tall and they make the chilling noise on the wind...they are ghosts of all the river spirits... the river carries the dead they carry the spirit the spirit of ancestors who do not find home. the tress see they are ghosts scared of themselves scared of the spirits that roam the river. you are going to be a spirit if you do not reach home to die.

I am very much intrigued by the subject of Neuroscience and have read few publications on the same. The science touches 'Dream' subject often and my understanding is we still don't know why we dream, there are some suggestions though.

Dreaming is mostly associated with the information the brain has already recieved which is then manipulated, often strangely. A study was done (newsday) and found out that the part of the brain that is involved in emotion process is heavily active in dream. Thus we get up shouting, crying ,laughing sometimes. However, the part of the brain mostly involved in logic processing (hypocampus?) is the least used while we dream.

Some people do solve few lingering problems in dream, such as the inventor of the benzene chain dreamed of 6 monkeys in a chain. This suggests logic processing is involved in dreams for few (wouldn't it be great if we know how to use that part in brain all the time).

We dream during Rapid Eye Movement (REM) period. Since this period is so specific, there must be some reason we dream. Some guesses (mine included):

1. Shiled off the subconsious part of brain whose information is being heavily processed, from consious part of brain which is now active in Dream
2. I beleive I read in Newsday that we might be dreaming to prepare ourselves from future, unexpected condition. Like to cope with Death and conditions you might be afraid of (like failing or arriving late in exams)
3. To straighthen the synapses in brain without recalling the event (Synapses form the memory network in the brain and are thickened everytime information is retrieved from them).

Dream might be just a funny trick from the super natural(the creator?) or there might be deeper meaning to it.
Whatever it is, it is a funny subject. Lets discuss/research it more, may be we can goto a conclusion?

Two corrections:
hypocampus? = in hypocampus (logical processor is inside, not the whole hypo).
Shiled=shield.
Might have few more faults, couldn't read what I wrote (how can I expect others to).

i dont know about scientific knowledge on dreams, but do have some philosophical knowledge on not "psychology" of dream but philosophy of dream..

We never dream of dreams that is far out of our own intellect reach, because dreams happen due to past experience, memories and with help of our capable knowledge and wisdom. A child will never dream of solving a very difficult economic problem, because firstly he doesnt have experinece with economics, secondly, he hasnt had any memories that have been in field of economics and lastly his intellect is not capable of solving such mathematical problem, because again, simply he has not yet reached or touched such wisdom, so therfore he will never dream of a soliving a very difficult economic problem. When we fall asleep, our "mind" is not functioning with the body but rather on its own, hence we do not come accross with any laws of physics, or any general laws of nature.so it is possible for us to witness ourselves being a "superman" and shooting dangerous rays from of our eyes. When we are sleeping our "mind" is not functioning with any of our surrounding, but on its own, so anything is possible on dreams. and if you happen to witness a death dream, then it is just a memory of something bad or a bad experience you had that stayed with you, and was processed while you were sleeping without the external organ being involved..bad experince usually leads to death dream because death is something we have fear of in our minds, just like doing, committing or being involved in bad experience.

ok since we are talking about dreams, i cant stop myself but wrte a few lines on Descartes Meditations of first philosophy..

On his meditations of first philosophy, Descartes brings everything into doubt and he establishes a point saying you can never know if you are dreaming or you are awake. You might be sitting on ur luxurious comp. chair and typing in your sajha, but you could be doing this with your eye closed. So acutally you are not typing rather you are just dreaming about typing, but how do you know, you are just dreaming and not really typying? you dont, and cannot differenate between reality and dream.

By giving such arugments, Descates states another short, but very powerful arguments, he says, "cogito ergo sum,", which simply means, I think, therefore i am, so conclusion is you never know if you are dreaming or not, but if you are thinking than you surely exist...

haha like DWI, i might also have lots of gramatical mistakes, ooh well, i am NOT re-reading and correcting those..if you understand it, its fine, if u dont, haha, bad luck..

Confused, the points you raised might look obvious but are very important in the study of dream. Good job. Indeed, we cannot dream of something beyond our intellect reach. That means dreams are manipulation of memories with or without logical sequence.

As far as Descrates is concerned, I might disagree. According to him, a blind person might be dreaming all the time. Besides, scientific experiments have proven the part of the brain used during dream act differently that during normal course. There is a solid line between dreaming and living it up.

crishna.. i think dreams are associated with past lives, if u believe in that sorta thing.. as well as, like u said, things u think of during this life.. they have no meaning nor significance to our life that we are living..

but then again when i get a bad dream myself.. esp of someone dying, my own theory goes out the window hehe.. but my mum said once.. if u see someone dying then theyre not gonna die anytime soon.. oh wait.. maybe mum said that to make me feel better.. darn.. she also said.. they wudnt die anytime soon..ONLY IF U DONT TELL THAT PERSON WHO DIED IN UR DREAM.. oh my god.. it just hit me!! she didnt want that person nor me to worry about it.. o mg.. mums they lie about so many things!! grr hehe

Crishna ji I don't know as much as DWI but I have taken Psychology for a while and I do know a think or two about dreams.
Death Dream - It basically means that you're going to go through some changes in your body, most likely you'll be getting sick after the dream. It also mean that there are something in back of your mind which you don't deal with it often and you don't realize it but even if you don't want to think about it your brain brings it up times to time specially on your dream. It's nothing serious. You should not worry about anything.

Peace Out.................................................................

I think the content of the dream is psychological and the images, emotions and different activities of the dream are a product of individuals unconscious mind. Most images in dreams are personal representation of individual dealing with events n emotions in our waking lives.
I find it more like a drama but i don't know.

hey briiii :)

There are many factors involved :

Stress level determines dreams, if you are stressed out about exams , you see all sorts of stressful dreams
2.Also depends on what you ate before you slept.

But some dreams are memorable. I donot know the scientific reasons but i have been somewhat brainwashed by old nepali sayings . for example.

1 If you see yourself dying , they say you will live longer
2 if you see blood , it is a good omen,
3 if you see snake ( nag ) , it is considered auspicious
4. if you see god and goddess, more auspicious
5 if you see teeth falling , then some one from your family will die ( i dreamt that my upper tooth came out, my grandmother passed away the next mornig)
6. If you see shit , you will earn more money

and the list goes on. Guys feel free to add more.
