For the past few months, I have been doing extensive research on atheism and all other major religions. As most of us, I was born in a Hindu family, but you know, Hinduism is all about rites and rituals and nothing about what it is really about, its teachings and things like that (at least in my family), so I did my research on Hinduism too but don't agree with a lot of ideas there.. So, I have come to the conclusion that I am an atheist. I don't believe in god and I don't worry about my afterlife since I don't believe in any sort of afterlife, be it hell, heaven or reincarnation. Life is so much more beautiful without god.. I look at people who go to chruch everyday, go to bible studies and waste a great deal of time praying.. and even my own mom, who goes to temple every morning waste time and money on those lutua-lovi priests.. I have requested her numerous times to use that money to help some poor person or give that money for charity instead of doing all those stupid rituals. so now I am just wondering if there are any Sajhaitis who share the same beliefs as I do or are have anything to say against it.. any kind of comment is welcome..

Hmm.....well I never thought so deep abt Hinduism or any religion or wehther I want to be an atheist. God is one and all , as the popular saying goes ; be it Shiva , Allaha, Jesus, Buddha . Whoever they are/if they are , they all preach peace and good etc and don't really affect us directly . If you believe in yourself, you needn't try to find answers to sum rather confusing questions which almost always sparks up sum kind of controversy, leading to enmity and discord between us; very much existiing humans.

But, I guess you are right abt lots of ppl wasting money over the name of dakshina, puja etc. Just recently , read in nepalnews.com abt the mixup in Pashupatinath treasury. We could really use our money to other much more needed causes. But ke garney, Nepali haru ko bani ; mandir ma gayera bhagwan lai abir le rattai nabanye samma, mukh ma peda na kochey samma chitta nabujhney.But then if our mothers and grandmothers feel good abt it, who are we to stop them or make them change their whole perspective abt God.And then, they really aren't against giving for charity.

But how can you say that the relgion we are born into or the other religions, does not teach us anything ? What other religion did you find , that teaches sum extraordinary stuff? Would you kindly enlighten us with the results of your extensive research?

I am neither a strict follower of God nor an atheist. I just make it a point to say " Thanks " sumtimes, when miracles do happen !

Thanks for correcting my french.. been a long time since I wrote french. Anyways, what I was trying to say in my above posting is that why do we need God or look up to Him or even thank Him when as you said "miracles" happen. I believe in evolution and looking at the pace of scientific progress that we are making, I am sure we will know a lot more about this world and also what lies beyond this world. I believe that God is for weak people who don't want to accept the reality.

And talking about my extensive research, I took many classes on religion while I was in college and have been visiting many websites where you can read discussions about religion and its purpose or how it started and things like that.. I had never ending discussions with my Religion profs. They used verses from bible to support their point.. that was ridiculous. Many Christian friends of mine tried to "convert" me, I laughed at their face.. Myaan, how can some people be so stupid?

Other than that, I always questioned about God's existence since my childhood. I happened to go to a Christian college in some rural part where the only person of color was me. well.. this (meaning the college education) gave me a good opportunity to think about religion and the existence of God and delve into it further.

Yes ,I understood what you meant, the part abt why do we need God or to look up at him.Its just that if you want to, we do; if not , then we don't. Its not sumthing others can find out by looking at our ID cards. :p

And GOD being for weak ppl, maybe u are true to sum extent. Everyone is not strong like you always. Some of us ,in our weak moments do find peace in the fact that, maybe God will make everything right. And then if there is really no God (we'll never knw), maybe he was created by sumone in his/her weak moment to have sum peace of mind.

Aba hajur le je sochu bhaye ni hajur ko icchya ho. Everyone is entitled to have their own way of living/thinking. The issue of whetehr GOD is or isn't or whetehr to beleive or not isn't really an issue to be so confused / think abt.

You remind me of myself! I know how it feels going to a Bible school where you are a minority, both as a colored person and as a non/semi believer. Going to a Christian school gave me a different perspective about religions. It's all about what you believe in dude. If you talk to a Christian, you don't hear them talking-- you hear that Bible talking. I always tried to avoid confrontations with them coz they are hard core Christians and it's hard to convince or even talk to them with a different worldview. There is a core class in our school ( I don't know if you have to take that class too) which teaches about evolution. I had a blast in that class seeing all the Christians getting upset. They believe in Creationism despite what science has revealed.
I think that going to a Christian school made me an atheist too. Everyone has their own God and the only proof they've got is their Bible/Koran etc etc. According to the bible the earth was created by God a mere 15000 years ago but the theory of evolution says that it's millions years old. I agree with you when it comes to helping the poor and the needy people rather than wasting money on churches/temples/priest. The world would have a better if there was no religion. The root of all the wars have been religion and the conflict still goes on. Why can't we just be humans and learn to love and care for each other.
Anyways, I gotta go man. Am at work.
