Hey guys!! What do u think about cloning in general and Reproductive (esp. Human) cloning in particular? I think with the available technology u can clone a human? How about cloning Bill Clinton, Mandela or in the other hand cloning Bin Laden, Bush. May be we can think about cloning GBBS, Paras, Prachanda, GP and MKN and of course our great PM SBD????? Well, cloning them would be worthy in any sense?

Note: I don't know if this topic is being discussed before in Sajha!

If eugenics is a possibility, it'll come from Asian nations. Europe is too egalitarian, and America is too religious. Asians don't give a flying fvck about moral values, they just wanna rule the roost. This is one reason, IMHO, that the decadent West(not my own words) will lose to Asian nations like Japan and China in the long haul. So before sh1t hits the ceiling, America and Europe will need to wise up, get their acts straight, and ditch religion as well as political correctness, both of which are anti-progress, that MIGHT hurt innovation. Instead of putting the pedal to metal with respect to stem cell research and going full speed ahead, BushCo. with his obstinate streak, has managed to bring progress to a complete hault in this regard. Now supposedly 30% of Americans identify themselves as evangelicals, among which 70% favored Bush over Kerry. So it's obvious that they're a powerful force in American politics to be reckoned with.
As regards to cloning humans, reaching that goal will take a long time. In the United States, if I am correct, human cloning research has been banned. Same in many Western nations. I don't know how it is in Asian nations though, but I bet my bottom dollar that they'll be the vangards in cloning research.

THIS ACTUALLY STARTED OUT AS A GOOD THREAD BUT SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN'T GET THAT AND STARTED TO SHOW THE PRODUCT OF THEIR BRAINLESS MIND BY WRITING UNNECESSARY STUFF. IF U DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CLONING DON'T REPLY IN THIS THREAD OK . MORONS
I THINK THE BEST WAY TO CLONE WOULD BE USING EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS. IF WE CAN JUST GROW THEM ARTIFICALLY IN VITRO ..... THAT WOULD JST BE AWESOME

HERE IS WHAT I WROTE ABOUT STEM CELLS FOR ONE OF MY CLASS

Bhattu
Stem cells are primal, undifferentiated cells that can form any cells in the body. Basically there are two types of stem cells; the embryonic stem cell and the adult stem cell. Embryonic stem cells are derived from the blastocyst (future fetus). A four day old zygote contains cells that can later develop into any of the 220 kinds of cells that make up the human body. Adult stem cell is found in all adult human being. Adult stem cells are undifferentiated cells that reproduce daily to produce certain specialized cells; for example adult skin stem cell give rise to skin cell(1). The embryonic stem cell can be harvested in laboratory and artificially made to produce the different kinds of cells. These cells can then be injected into an injured human to cure for the injury. For example stem cells can be differentiated into heart muscle cells and injected into heart of patient suffering from heart attack(1). The cells repair the injured heart muscle and replace them producing a healthy heart. This experiment has been successfully carried out in lab animals but has yet to be tested in humans. Transplant of embryonic stem cells have enabled animals that suffered spinal-cord injuries to move legs and partially support their body weight (2).
Adult stem cells as said earlier are cells that are undifferentiated and are usually dormant. They are activated by disease or tissue injury. Till now the adult tissues reported to contain stem cells include brain, bone marrow, peripheral blood, blood vessels, skeletal muscle, skin and liver(3). But these cells only produce specific kind of cells i.e. blood stem cell would only produce blood cells. Blood forming adult stem cell from bone marrow has been used in treatment for as long as 30 years (3).
Researchers are still pushing for embryonic stem cells because embryonic stem cells have the potential to develop into any kind of cell whereas adult stem cell only develops into certain specific cells. Also adult stem cells are slow growing so the amount needed for treatment is not sufficiently produced. Whereas embryonic stem cells proliferate readily and vast quantities can be produced.
But there is a great debate surrounding the use of embryonic stem cells. The pro-lifers and hardcore Catholics oppose the research because they think it?s killing the embryo. But the stem cells are only taken out from embryos that have been rejected in the fertility clinic and that are bound to be destroyed anyway. President George Bush has allowed for federal grants for research involving the existing embryonic cell lines. But researchers say that is not enough. There is already 60 genetically diverse stem cell line in existence. Even the religious right wings are divided in this issue. Some believe an embryo is a new life and shouldn?t be killed while others say an embryo developed outside of womb in a lab can?t be called a genuine fetus.
Me I believe that stem cell research should be undertaken at any cost. It may not cure all the diseases but this is purely a quest for knowledge and I don?t see any point in arguing about the life of the embryo that is going to be thrown away anyway. Better use it in research for betterment of humanity than to throw it away.

Sajha kina ali unhealthy bhayo bhaneko ta !! Hetteri ! Now the whole of SAJHA needs to be CLONED to revert back into its original form !! Of course, by leaving out the infected CHROMOSOME aka IndieguisE. *Smiles*

Too bad we gonna lose sumone who is so very observant and dedicated [abt gurls and aru lai khutta tanney bani mostly...aba real ma aru kura ni bhaye maf pau ], but nevertheless infected or maybe the damages run deep pointing towards congenital anomalies. DAMAGED goods, tho ORIGINAL they may be, has to be disposed of sooner or later. [ with a heavy heart of course ...*siggghh*]

And while you are still here, lemme say a not so well prepared farewell speech to you [ aba tapai sanga speech classes na liye pachi yestai jpt lekhna aucha ]

Idieguise, first of all thanks a lot for reading each and every post of mine with so much dedication and concentration and obsession remembering each and every word I say so that you can mention it in other threads as well.Awwww......I am NOW aware, this whole passion abt following me in Sajha STRAINS [sajha threads] and yapping , simply STEMS from the fact that I refused to acknowledge you after sum days of talking to you SUM MONTHS ago.
Konngratulaschions to you today ! Mission of making meh reply to you has been accomplished. [ HAJUR LAI ATEE NAI BHAYECHA BHANERA REPLY GARDI HALEKO NI AJA ] *Grins*

Hmmm...such dedication I have NOT seen * a round of applause*. But sweetheart, why can't you get it in your ORIGINAL, INTELLIGENT,DEDICATED HARD-WORKING brain , that I can't simply be bothered to talk to you ?
Or maybe I just prefer to date my cadavers who I find more stimulating than you? Or maybe I prefer to sing in my own bathroom OR with my band/solo in sano tino/thulo masino , sumtimes in the biggest concert in the history of Nepal ?? [ its another thing that I refuse to sing in each and every opportunity that comes my way due to my own reasons,..kyarnu afu ta alchi eeestupit pariyo, hajur jasto sabai opportunity ko faida uthauna nasakney....sachi singing classes pani lina aunu parla baru hajur sanga, malai khasai ramro gauna ta audai na but I try... ]

Anywayz, afno barnan ko lagi dhanyabad.Aba most BEAUTIFUL guy in Sajha imagine garda I shall imagine a non-golmatol, non dalle tall na tall, seto na seto, middle size eyes bhayeko IndieguiseE mitra. * Smiles*

~*-----------------------------------*~ [ you can copy this line too.]

*Smiles* [ <---- I knw you are still learning ]

Now if you shall excuse me, I have got pending mattters that need my attention.

LAu jaaaa.. hahahahha...
Looks like i really ticked u off Lady. I read almost everyone's thread, and that includes you as well except perhaps, longgggggggg political discussions. And about my mission to MAkE you reply to me, well what can i say about that. If you see it that way, be my guest. *Smiles*.

About following you in SAJHA, (LOL),... Now sajha ain't as big as i would like it to be, so we happen to bump in to each other like you & i bump in to many others. I never knew that you had to work on to refusing to acknowledge me after talking to me for SUM days, SUM mths ago. I am sorry to have forced you to reply to my comments. :) Its just that i never took the stuffs written here personally, and did not EVER thought that one makes a psychological notes about talking to certain person or not. Hehe maaf pau :). Please do not bother to waste ur energy in ignoring infected CHROMOSOME.

I as well regret that my words did not fawn your gigantic ego. I accept it was imprudent of me and i should have been fawning towards you.

On to the more serious note, I would say it would be puerile of us to push the matter further. And i take back my comments regarding you, in my previous threads as well as apologizing for considerably hurting your sentiments.

And if we happen to cross our paths :) please consider that my obsession or passion ( as YOU might LIKE to believe) has nothing to do with me stalking you in every thread. Sano community ma sano space ma, kahile kahi thokki halincha :), anyetha nasochi dinu hola.

*Sighs*

I support stem cell research. Actually, this was one of the questions I made for the Harvard MUN slection committee at my school.. (hehe.. la maile ni di halya.. graduate student bhaye pachi arkai moj.. ani those who supported my view were given 19 out of 20.. and many of them are going to Boston MUN later this year.. and one of the dicussion questoion will be stem cells research.. :-) ).. If stem cell research will save many lives, why not..Recently read an article on the Guardian about a Chinese doc. who is doing it and helping people with spinal injuries. I mean, if it helps people to get back on their feet, I am for it. Religious, cultural this and that are not much of concern. Abortion garna huney, stem cells research garna nahuney?

Iffyyy,
Ya got it right. I am not against the whole research.
Quoting sumone frm above, I just wanted to say that we should not play God.There should be certain limitations and rules as to what the researchers should be allowed to do or not.

Ani jhuto bolna laj lagdai na. Asti chai you gave points to the most beautiful one bhanya ! :p:p:p Many are going re? I thought only the winner !! :0 !

lady,

aren't we already playing God by killing people? If we can kill people, why not have stem cells research?

What is the big deal about cloning? Nothing, its just the process of making children who have the same genetic code as someone else. The horror! I guess we should ban identical twins too! They obviously are inferior because they cannot have a distinct identity

I don't see why wanting a copy of yourself is any more selfish than getting pissed when your child turns out to have been fathered by another man.

But the real point is that cloning will never be a big deal, so it is silly to worry about it. You cannot build a better society with cloning. You just get the same thing over and over again (which would make an interesting experiment to see whether man's progress is a function of discovering more of what are brains can comprehend or if we can actually comprehend more than we once could, since you have the same stock of brain generation after generation). For clones to take over you have to assume that a society would be willing to give up having sex, which is highly unlikely, and if that happened, that it would have some sort of advantage over other societies, which it wouldn't (a few carefully destructed viri can destroy them all).

The real thing that should be discussed is genetic engeneering.

why aruge on what GOD wants and does not want, when the whole IDeology of GOD can be debated.. This is an issue of Science not of Philosophy.

We are humans, so we decide our own faith. Before doing anything, we just need to know the benifits and harm that is generated by such actions. Hence, Clonning sud be limited, and stem cell research sud be not be abandoned.

Humans are designed to survive in one type of environment on one specific planet. We were made to live on land, drink the water, breathe the air, and be shielded by the atmosphere from the planet Earth...and that is just the start.

Now *eventually* our sun is going to burn out. We dont want to be on the planet in that time period because we will die...the entire planet. In order to get off this planet and be able to live elsewhere, we will have to make drastic changes to our genetics that evolution will not be able to change in time. We will have to adapt to living in space...living in other environments...breathing Co2 instead of O2. Cloning is the baby steps of what is to come in the future, albeit... not for awhile.

Who knows, in a few trillion years...a human from one system might travel to another system and set down on a harsh planet, get into his habitat suit and set out to explore this strange new planet only to be approached by a short, green creature with dark eyes and a muscular frame. Upon a genetic scan, the traveller realizes that the creature is in fact a human that is engineered to suit the planet conditions (short and muscular due to the high gravity, dark eyes to shield from the 3 suns, green chlorophyll skin to convert the CO2 atmosphere into Energy and Oxygen for aerobic cell resparation).

The (very rough) above example is hardly a drop in the bucket of what will be done. Another modification that will be made is life extension. Your ideal lifespan is nothing more than a genetic timer that says "your cells will divide 'X' number of times and then stop." All you have to do is increase the number of X and we will have humans that could live from 150years up to 500 000+ years...just change the amount of times that the cell divides. Wild Shit, huh ????

After wrapping your head around what IS going to happen....Cloning will seem like not such a big deal.

And that is why we will clone....because more drastic and mind blowing genetic manipulation will happen.
