" I agree, so do you want .............................do you want them to come to power and impose their authoritarian rule......................"

Do you mean that right at this point in time, Ganendra has imposed a rule that is different from "authoritarian rule" in the areas of his control ?

By the way, who can tell it's only for 3 years. What if the Maoist decide not to come for peace talks for next 10 years or worse not at all ?

Well, from the experience of other countries, civil wars tend to continue for 2 or 3 or even 4 decade (Communists in Guatemala fought almost 40 year civil war, Sandanista Communists fought little less than 2 decades in Nicaragua, FARC is still fighting in Columbia for more than 2 decades, Tamils are still at standstill).

"Authoritarian Rule" argument holds no water dude.

Why are you raising issue the death of 12 Nepalese in Iraq right in this topic. Is it a relevant matter to Gyanae or the Maoist ? Or were those 12 Nepalese in someway conneted to Ganae's fauuj or the Maoist fauuj...? ha ha ha ha ha ...are you some sort of out of your mind dude ?

Suvachintak dude

Dude, did Maoists or their associates personally requested those Iraqi kidnappers to kidnap those 12 Nepalese and kill them ?..ha ha ha ha ...

Remember that, Iraq is NOT the only country left in this planet to go and work and no one forced these guys to choose the most dangerous country (after American invasion of Iraq) in the world at this point to go and work. More than that these 12 guys were not children ok.

If you say so I feel you are more responsible than anyone for their deaths. If you were so concerned about them then why didnt you stop them by letting know everone that it was made illegal (by Nepali Government) to go to Iraq after American Invasion of Iraq.

If someone people were so desperate to find work in Nepal Maoists can give them a lot of work...ha ha ha hehehehhe

We all are worried about where Nepal is heading, but we have to be cautious about how the media feeding us. Remember Zee TV trying to manipulate the situation in Nepal and showing clip of old video shots to present the situation of rioting which was not happening. Let?s not believe the outside media they never depict the true situation of people. Finally someone with courage has taken a responsibility to settle the matter, we need to support him. I am not a King supporter but I consider myself a nationalist and I believe he is the kind of person we need today. I have seen enough in Nepal and was partly a victim of these netas while working in government office purely as a technical person, they are never serious about the future of our country, all they cared was about their position in the party. They do not deserve to lead our country. Let?s give this king a chance, at least he has shown some courage, he is putting everything at stake, for what? isn?t this something? Let?s not get carried away by false media and off shoots of these netas. We need to support him, we might never get another chance. We gave opportunity to those netas our 15 yr?s of life so why are we so reluctant about giving 1/5-th of this time to King? Nepal is not yet ready for so called democracy, especially if it is triggered by neighboring bully.

US Department of State
A meeting with two US State Department officials on 2 February, Melanie
Bixby, Senior Advisor South Asian Affairs, and Kristin Needler, Nepal desk
officer, provided some updated information on the situation in Nepal and the
US position. According to the State Department, phone lines were cut to
prevent organised protests in the capital and will be slowly turned back on
over the next week. The officials were candid and cordial, though they held
the official line. On human rights violations, they freely admitted that the
RNA was guilty, but that most of US military assistance was providing human
rights training to the army, which has grown quickly in size over a short
period. They did not say if anything was being put forward to hold the army
accountable. The US also refused to take a position on the involvement of a
third party to facilitate peace talks between the king and the Maoists.
While acknowledging that the UK was in favor and India dead opposed, the US
is in favor of a "negotiated settlement". They had been in contact with the
US embassy in Kathmandu and Ambassador Moriarty was planning to visit the
palace as soon as possible, which he has done subsequently. The US also
noted that India was in shock over the King's decision and felt slighted.
It's unclear whether the US will take a strong position on Nepal, as India
has, though intially they have condemned the move. King Gyanendra seems to
be hoping that the US and India's dislike for the Maoists will outweigh
their contempt at his power grab.

On the ground in Nepal
Reports are coming through that there is a widespread crackdown on dissent
in the capital and in Pokhara. Political and student leaders are being
targeted by the army for arrest. BBC reported that 250 were arrested in
Pokhara and possibly fired upon after demonstrating. The BBC also reported
that 21 members of the Nepali Congress, Nepal's largest political party,
were arrested in Kanchanpur. It is assumed that human rights activists are
next in line and some are being offered shelter by the Danish embassy and
the UN. Phone lines have been reopened an hour or two at a time, before
being disconnected. Supposedly, this is to prevent activists from
organising protests. Additionally, it has prevented the three-day bandh
called by the Maoists from having any affect whatsoever, due to the absence
of communication. Few, if anyone in Nepal are aware that the Maoists called
one. Newspapers are closed still and occupied or surrounded by security
personnel, while open radio stations are permitted to only play music,
because the army does not have the resources to screen all the news
reports.

What's next?
From the looks of the situation, more deterioration. The buffer space for
civilians and humanitarian organisations is being squeezed tighter than
before in Nepal. If the king succeeds in opening space for peace talks with
the Maoists, he will certainly be hailed by many Nepalis. However, such an
occurrance is fanciful. While the Maoists would now negotiate with the king,
which they have been demanding, there is little evidence that talks would
succeed, considering the degree to which the palace and the Maoists are
fighting for conflicting ends. The army seems much more interested in
forcing the Maoists to the negotiating table, than in inviting them. Pyar
Jung Thapa, RNA Chief of Staff, was quoted on 4 February, "If the Royal
Nepal Army succeeds in reducing the military strength of the Maoists, force
them into the national mainstream and help His Majesty's Government to
resolve the Maoist problem, it's name will be written in Nepal's history in
golden letters." He has said also, that without protests in the street, the
army can focus solely on bringing the Maoists to the negotiating table or
into the political mainstream. India has expressed strong doubts about the
army's ability to make significant progress. Given the ability of the army
to force the rebels to the negotiating table to date, it seems clear the
army is focused on a faulty approach.

hhh hhe.
Don't make any false assumption that the parties are finished off. I do not mean to support the corrupt leaders but parties are made up of millions of activist and supporters that live in each home of the country.WIth the exercise of democracy for years, they have the power not only to throw their incapable leaders; they can oust who ever they want with a unrestrictable flow of mass.
Despotic Gyanendra has shrewdly designed a coup with the help of guns. But in a few weeks time, if the restrictions imposed against the freedom of public is not lifted, the flood of mass will dismantle Narayanhiti Palace. Mind you! the Royal Nepal Army is comprised of sons and daughters of the Nepali public. They will not always obey the orders of their bosses. Remember what happened in Ukraine, Ivorycoast or Phillipines.

I know most of the Nepalese previleged to stay in the US are children of rich Kathmanduties. They obviosuly support the King for their Swartha. They don't want ordinary people to progress so they are dancing in the tune of King Gyanendra. But I suggest you to ask your favourite King not to ignore ordinary people's rights. If repression exceeds the threshold, Naraynhiti will be a rubble of riches.

I am utterly angered with the overwhelming Gyanebhakti showed by these group of selfish thugs now. Shame on you to live in America and advocate blanket support to Autocracy.

Someone in one of the threads had posted a picture of few hundreds gathered in kathmandu to felicitate Gyanendra. Don't you know that a party rally in Kathmandu would fill up Khulamanch?? sayajana jamma garaera janatako support paye bhanda laaj pani nalagne. Thukka paji haru. Lift the ban on rallies and see how would the mass flood in Tudikhel to express their opposition to Gyanendra. Democracy is in my blood. Democracy is in majority of the Nepalese blood. Tyranny will end soon. And this time the tyranny will be ended for ever.

Suvachintak dude

".....do you know the reason why he got fired.............."
So at least, now you accept the fact that Gyanae is the master of Gyanae's Army, not the government at that time..right?

If Gyanae were not master of Gyanae's army it would not have been possible to fire an elected govt. Isnt it ? where in the world it has been possible to overthrow an elected govt. without being a master of an army and directing it. That also means Gyanae is also responsible for killings of civillians (as stated in Amnesty International's report) committed by Gyanae's army since it is driven by the direction of its master(Gyanae).

At this point you do contradict your earlier statement that goes "........army action was taken by netas and orders were given by netas......."
Meaning, since netaas were/are not master of Gyanae's army netaas are not responsible for whatever Gyanae's army did in the field and the responsibility lies solely on its master (that is Gyanae).

Well...you helped me more than anyone else to prove my point that Gyane is a master of terrorist army.

Thank you...suc***er..hahaha hhaha hahha h
