Let us not flog on a dead horse that is going to take us nowhere. Let us look at the ground reality - seriously, I am at a loss for words. Some of you don't have a clue what's it like here - the only thing you guys do is keep harping on about democracy incessantly. If the royal takeover has hurt anyone, it has been the corrupt netas and thier sychophants - it is hurting them the most. People are generally happy, and that includes myself. Well, in essence what has happened is we have the King at the helm instead of Girija, Sher Bahadur, Surya Bahadur etc. Now that is hardly a bad thing. I mean, these politicians have done enough harm to the country and they have proven beyond doubt that they are worse than stray dogs. Well, our economic and personal freedoms are intact and that's all that matters to us. What do I care if the next primeminister is going to be Girija ' or Sher Bahadur, or Krishna Prasad Bhattari, or Madhav Kumar Nepal? "Joon jogi aaye pani kaan chirekai" Invaribly it's going to be one of them. Infact, I am very happy that there are no more nepal bandhs, chhakkajams, julus, pradarsan, nakabandi, that crippled our day to day life.

This King has always come across as a no-nonsense type who will talk the talk and walk the walk. Let us give him a chance, what's a few years- the netas had it for 14 years, might as well give the King a few years and see what he does. BUT LET US GIVE THE KING A CHANCE. At the very least he might stabilize the situtation.

These are early days since the royal takeover, but I have already seen some positive changes take place - roads are being repaired (infact, I was plesantly surprised to see men at work at 6 am in the morning - which is a rare sight in Nepal), garbages are being disposed off before dawn, passports and citizenship IDs are being issued within hours, service delivery by government offices has become very quick, inspection teams have been formed to monitor the activities of all government departments and agencies, and
for the first time in years there is actually a faint ray of HOPE on the horizon. The government has announced that wealth amassed through corruption and illegal means will be nationalized and culprits punished. I earnestly hope all corrupt and unscrupulous netas (scumbags would be more apt) will be firmly dealt with.

All we want is peace and an end to maoist barbarities that will put talibans to shame. Enogh is enough. These political parties have completely ruined our country - since 1990 it has been a downhill; we have been pushed backward by at least 30-40 years. Pre-1990 was not nearly half as bad as it is today. In all these years none of these corrupt netas did anything to solve the maoist crisis. They were always bickering and tussling for power. They just did not give a shit about the plights of a comman man.

Today, the very existance of our nation is at risk. Yes you heard it right. The King has taken an unprecedented risk by assuming control of the government. He has put his credibility, and for that matter, the institution of monarchy on the line - now the onus is on him. We must commend him for doing that. Let us all rally behind him and support him in whatever way we can. We are at a critical juncture in the history of our nation. Let us us play a constructive role in bringing our country back to normalcy and peace. It is indeed a tall order, but it can only be possible if we all come together for the the greater cause of our nation. Mark my words -- it is utterly important for the King to succeed in solving the maoist problem because if he doesn't I can foresee a national disaster of an unprecedented scale:
1. We may actually cease to exist as a soverign nation, or
2. The maoists will come to power.

So, let us all, those in and out of the country, stand by our King at this crucial time in the history of our nation.

I agree with you Lokman. These people who ranting against king most probably have no idea what the situation is like in Nepal these days. I went back to NEpal recently and was shocked to see its situation..it has definitely gone back forty years. There is no law..people are indeed living a very difficult life.

Those who thinks a gunda taking over the rule and beleiving that will stabilise the situation in our country must be stupidest of all... Who aren't corrupt??? Is the King himself better than others?? How dide came into power?? How does his son who will be next king lives his life??? These sure are the serious questions with strange answers...and didn't u knew Nepal ko murti bechera paisa kamaune le aabo desh nai bechera paisa kamauna k beer....
Well I don't think politicians who gave democracy a bad name should be given chance agin..but isn't democracy necessary for people...We the Nepalese haven't got right to live life freely now on.. and to be down to earth true, we don't even have basic rights these days...anyone can be arrested anyone can be detained,..jallai pani gaayeb banauna sakinchha nepal ma aahile...1800 already gaayeb bhaisake ka chhan...aabo tyo toll badhyo bhane ta bolna ta k thaha pani painna...samachar thappa chan...ther eis no news critical about government...those criticizing goverment are censored....and people, human right activist whoever wants basic rights restored are being arrested...aabo k yesari nai chance dindai jaane rajalai????
aani more than that...jalle pani sarkar aayepachhi popular huna suru ma aali aali kaam garchha...aani paachi aafno khalti bharchhan...aahile ko mantri mandal lai nai herum na...safa chhabi bhayeko kohi chhan??? well that sure is serioyus fact to be found out....
aaru k kura garne Nepal ma 2 mahina basera yesto garnu parchha bhanera bhanna sajilo chha...Kohi Nepal ko rural area gayeka chhan??? There is no rule of old government there...Sena tehan jaan at 200 300 ko toli banayera matra janchha..Maobadi ko manmaanic hha tehan...It is major problem to be solved to make our country peaceful again,...aabo k jammai maobaadi lai marera desh ma shanti lyaune????Ki yellai politically with participation of everyone solve garne...we know parties sure were corrupt...But Do you all think that The basic human rights of any people can be eliminated just like that???
Come to NEpal and Live life here...You all will know..badhi k bolnu..jammai ko jaya hoss...hamro kaidi jeevan le chando mukti paawoos!!!!!
Dhanya baad

I smell rat, when indian newspaper reported that Sajata Koirala trekked to India from Nepal that took her four days.. I don't believe it. She was whisked to India... there must be a deal between King G and Girija on this one. King G asked for 100 days... that's all we can give him to show the results.... But I still doubt it. King G is idiot for sure. He cannot do whatever he wants to (if he has brain) coz he is totally responible for the Royal Massacre and with such involvement with the blessing of India, King G will always be blackmailed by India.

The pace of the King's govt. is damn slow. NOthing new is happening.. they say that they will form commission soon to punsih the corrupt leaders/people. But the commission is not yet formed. why so slow. It's bullshits. Which is also evident how they allowed Sujata to flee to India. Then People like Govinda Raj Joshi released in Pokhara free.

C'mon, every nepali knows what should be the prime job of King at this time. Girija under housearrest is not a arrest.. it's HOUSE REST. They are supposed to hold up Sujata who has reached to their amaased cash from we nepalese with all those corruption. But they allowed her to flee. Why was she never been detained immediately after the Feb 1 takeover.

Tell you the truth. Girija will never do any good to Nepal. They think India is their home, not Nepal. What to expect from King? He can always buy island somewhere in pacific ocean abd live luxuriousely. But he forgot the Tsunami factor. Go to those islands.. Tsunami will eat him up.

OUr efforts should be not to support the King at this moment outright. We shoudl start criticizing the King for any mistake/ wrong decision his govt. make to warn them.

1. Criticize vehemently.
2. Speak what exactly you want to see in Nepal.
3. Tell them you don't want to see Girije again anymore
4. Make sure corrupt leaders will not be allowed to come to politics again. I don't care how they do it. Simply eliminate them banish them from politics.
5. It's not hard to figure out who are corrupt leaders.
6. It's not hard how good the those leaders are fo the country. Check out if they have any vision for the good of country. Most of them don't.
7. Create opportunity for the educated learnt people who really want to serve the country. Yes, such people are always hesitant to enter the political arena. But convince them that they are really needed. And they must step up now.
8. The reason why such clean educated people stay out of politics is that they have skill/talent knowledge and trademanship which they can use to earn their livelihood. Compared to that most of the corrupt leaders don't have any such qualification to live their life working in the real world. So they are compelled to stay in politics where they can amass lot of money doing nothing but bullshitting.
9. Make sure that such type of people do not deserve in the process of decision making process that determines the fate of Nepal and it's 27 million people.

Many more to come.

Lokman,

I am partially with you, but not whole heartedly. I think it all depends on what the intentions are behind the king's move. If the king indeed has good intentions, and is marching towards a democratic Nepal, but feels that he has to cleanse the system and get rid of the current corrupt Nepali leadership, then I am with him. However, as we all know, leadership starts from the top and you have to set a personal example yourself. So, before he points fingers at others, he needs to clean up his own house. By that, I mean hold Paras responsible for his actions and not reward him with the crown, just because he is his son.

Since we don't know what the king's intentions are, I am happy to see that US, EU, and India are pressuring the king. If Nepalis outside Nepal, and these nations don't hold the king responsible, then all we'll have is hope. Hope that the king indeed has good intentions and wont stray from his path. Given what we know or don't know about him, that may be too much to hope for.

B_D.
