I am trying to install SQL server 2000 developers edition on my computer. I have windows XP home. After the installation when i try to run the SQL server, it says "login failure occures while performing this service operation on the MSSQL server service". Any Idea guys? damn....this is frustrating. help would be appreciated. thank you

If you are using SQL on your desktop and not a dedicated server, Open Control Panel and then the Services, locate MSSQLServer services and click on Properties, then try logging on using your local system account rather than using the domain account. Good luck.

Try doing what KG4MVP told you but i am not sure that will work either cause you are using the Xp home edition which has limited amount of accessibility so try upgrading to xp pro or to 2000 pro or server. Cause even if you were able to start the application u'll be end up having more problems with the home edition. Good luck
