This is all what he wrote (does this make any sense but?):

Hello! Here is an article written by me that I am emailing to you. It is as under after this brief note. Here I would like to say that it was my father who was instrumental in the institution of democracy in Nepal when he led the great revolution. The country is again in a mess created by the squabbling politicians for vested interests.
I hope you will give due consideration to this letter.
Thanking you very much.
Regards
Chola Jeet Shah

Subject : NEPAL - A country fighting for survival

By : Mr.Chola Jeet Shah
S/o Dr. K.I.Singh (Former Prime Minister of Nepal)

Today a country of 20 million (2 crore) people is fighting for its survival. Due to Maoist insurgency atleast 50 lakh people have been uprooted from their homes, their meager belongings looted and their agricultural lands have been either taken away or are lying fallow.

The so called middle class of the country which comprise of the teachers, medical practitioners, government employees, and people with small businesses have had to pay a part of their salary or the earnings to the Maoist insurgents.
The majority of the country folk who reside in the villages are living in terror and are facing the brunt of their oppression. As they have nowhere to go, they have no other option rather than to silently suffer from rape, torture and forced labor. School going children are abducted by the hundreds from their schools and made to join the insurgents.

Till now the various governments, which came to power failed miserably to solve the insurgency problems, the country faced. They were unable to provide any relief to the common man and in general were totally unconcerned for their plight. Except for the few cities the government had no control over the countryside, which means 85% of Nepal?s total land area was at the mercy of the breeding terrorism. This dismal state of affairs has been going on for the last 8 years or since the inception of the multi party democratic set-up. Most politicians with no foresight have been busy squabbling amongst themselves for power and position.

The Maoists in Nepal believe that ultimately they will be able to take over the country by force. They have no ideology whatsoever, except that they must attain their objective by hook or by crook to meet personal interests. In this they were infact unwittingly aided by the various weak governments in power. The governments never took any strong and decisive action against the Maoists, thus making them more bold and strong. Had the various governments taken strong steps in the beginning, this situation would not have arisen and the government would have been able to control the worsening situation.

But the politicians lost this initiative due to their internal bickering, short sightedness and petty politics. They were only interested in hanging on to power regardless of the worsening situation.

In the meantime the Maoists looted banks, they over-ran police posts in remote areas, business establishments were also looted and in this they acquired large sums of money and arms. Once they had the necessary financial as well as firepower, they spread their tentacles throughout the country.

By decreeing that every salary holder, businesses and even people with small landholdings had to pay a portion of their earnings to their coffers. Thus, the Maoists became more powerful and started running a parallel government.

It is in this context that His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah decided to take matters in his own hand by dismissing the government headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba (installed by the King on an assurance given to him that the situation will come under control) and declaring a state of emergency. As it is the country was slowly disintegrating, and very shortly would have come under the Maoists rule. The world, then would have witnessed a blood bath in which millions would have perished and a great exodus would have taken place towards India.

?Kingship? is the only unifying factor in Nepal. The people being very religious will support the King as he is the only hope for them, who can curtail the antinational activities of the insurgents and bring about some sort of law and order in the country. He has asked for 3 years to control the situation after which he hopes the atmosphere would be right for the general elections to the lower house of parliament. And, in his endeavor to weed out the terrorists once and for all: the foreign governments need to understand the situation and provide all support for the noble cause.

United States and Britain have been most vociferous about the suspension of democracy in Nepal. There is no protection for the common man, no law to approach for the redressal of their grievances and no one to guarantee their survival. Hundreds of government buildings have been razed by bombings, bridges destroyed, power houses damaged, roads dug up and mines planted and thousands of acres of crops destroyed. For these hapless people what meaning does democracy have? The ruthless insurgents have relegated one of the most backward countries of the world to a greater distance from economic prosperity.

In this country for the common man, democracy means, two times food for them and their starving family and protection of their lives. United States of America (USA) the self-guardian of democracy the world over seems to think that the Nepalese are in dire need of their brand of democracy.

The world is already witnessing the democratic process it has brought in Iraq. The people over there are suffering more than before and it is only because of the 5,00,000 strong Allied Armed Forces that they are managing to cram down the throat of the Iraqis this democracy of theirs.

India is the only country that will be directly affected by what happens in Nepal. India has a long common land border (800 kms. East to West) with Nepal, the culture is the same and they both share a common religion. It is in the interest of India that Nepal should remain a stable country. With her vast resources it can help Nepal overcome its present crisis.
Indian help, especially economic & military is much needed and a cordial atmosphere needs to be built where both the countries can sit down and strengthen their ties by removing the differences. If asked for, India should be ready to send its troops in Nepal to help it in wiping out terrorism. There is no reason that with Indian help this situation cannot be contained. Once the situation improves, India with its mature political system can help Nepal in setting up a strong democratic system with monarchy co-existing harmoniously. His Majesty King Gyanendra has openly promised a return to democracy as soon as possible, and there is no reason to doubt him.

Where its interests lie, Indian Foreign Policy should be firm. They should not go by what others think is best for Nepal. You cannot ram democracy down people?s throat when they are starving and unsure whether they will live to see tomorrow?s sun. It is survival and only survival that matters most to the common man.

It is towards India, that the majority of the Nepalese are looking with great expectations. Only India can help that country from going down in flames of insurgency, which in the last 6 years has taken a toll of more than 12,000 innocent lives.

Nepal is burning!!!!

Dr. K.I.Singh spearheaded the 1950?s struggle to over throw the autocratic Rana Regime and transferred power to the current Shah Dynasty and later became the undisputed leader of Nepal and a loving Prime Minister.
