On - Concern of Kalapani between China and India: Foreign Ministry

By Bhola B Rana
News from Associate Press Nepal
Kathmandu, 11 May:--

China has told Nepal ?there is no concern belonging to Kalapani? in documents signed by India and China, the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry said this on the basis of information provided by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

The Foreign Ministry said a joint technical committee is looking at the demarcation of the broider which? will be resolved bilaterally between Nepal and India in the spirit of bilateral under standing and cooperation.?

The Ministry issued the statement after a vernacular news reported China, during a visit of Chinese Prime minister Wen Jibao to India in April, conceded Kalapani to India in a border protocol signed by the two countries.

Nepal says India has been holding about 35 square miles in Nepalese territory in far-west Nepal around the tri-junction between Nepal, India and China since the 1960?s.

Nepal and China have demarcated their border and identified the tri-junction in east and far-west Nepal.

Nepal has to formally identify that point with India.

?Chinese side always holds the view that in the problem of Kalapani between Nepal and India should be resolved through friendly bilateral consultations

?The Chinese side full understands the concerns of the Nepali side and respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nepal,? the Foreign Minisry said quoting information provided by the Chinese Embassy.

India occupied Nepal's broder from decade, but Nepali government, political parties, Nepali leaders and News media did not concern about this deep serious matter WHY?

Newuser le garya analysis padham ekphera:

Posted on 05-09-05 3:43 AM Reply | Notify Admin
The latest agreement between India and China inclusive of Kalapani further bolsters the CPN Maoist's analysis that Nepal has to confront Indian expansionism to safeguard it's survival. The maoists strategy is to build up a military that can deal with the Indians to restrict them from occupying Nepal. But this strategy simply doesn't work as there is no possibility of Nepal being able to confront India militarily. No matter some of their analysis are proving to be true, the Maoists are totally wrong in executing their tactics. There is no point in believing the group whose core idealogy is full of extreme flaws. So, a shrewd diplomatic and political approach should be taken to restrict Indian motives of occupying Nepalese land of strategic and economic importance. They would not try to annex Nepal like Sikkim in the foreseeable future, but they will certainly continue to encroach our land which will shrink Nepal's area by squares of kilometres every year.

In fact in the 21st century, big military powers can easily annex smaller countries if they really want to expand their territory. Obviously the United Nations and other international treaties that have been signed to safeguard the existence of smaller sovereign impede them. But if they wish, they can do what they like. China can unite Taiwan with it's main land and India can at least force military occupation in Nepal. It has already occupied Kalapani and more or less got Chinese approval in legitimising the area as it's own territory. India does not want to take full control of Nepal which is already full of mess but it does want to control Nepal's water resources. It has been exploiting Nepal's political instability to gain control over Nepalese water but it's final motive is to deploy it's security forces in the areas from where it can totally control Nepal's water.(Just like the US army is doing with Iraq's oilfields). So it is trying to create the situation for military intervention in Nepal. The Maoists rebellion is providing the stage for fulfilling Indian motives. There are every possibilities that the Indian army will invade Nepal(with the apporval of King Gyanendra or the political leaders) in the name of helping the country to confront the Maoists. Whatever statements Indian diplomats and politicians are making, they do not want a settlement without a big influence of India on the Maoists problem.

Now the only way to stop Indian military intervention in Nepal is to forge a peaceful settlement with the Maoists. The palace, parties and the Maoists should make an agreement which would pave the way for estabilishing a stable government and a strong legislature. A united political force should then attempt to end all the border disputes with India. Indo-Nepal border needs a new demarcation and fortification. For a new demarcation, Nepal should rather agree to loose some land of it which India has already encroached but it should not allow India to further encroach Nepal's land. Without a final demarcation and fortification, Nepal will be loosing it's land inch by inch. A strong government, a united policy on India, and an end of over- dependence on India by the rulers can help Nepal withstand Indian expansionism. Otherwise, Indian military will be taking control of our water resources within the next decade. And no one can totally dismiss the possibility of Nepal ending up being another Sikkim, specially if the current political turmoil is not sorted out soon. Make no mistake, China won't give a shit if India intervened Nepal.

Jas ko ghar latha linga huncha, jun Ghar ko bhai-chora, didi-bahini apas ma jhagada garchan, jun Ghar ka ama-bau bhaune haru nissarthak hunchan, testo ghar ma apatti aucha nai.

Is there any thing that will unite the Nepalese, I think no. It seems all our nationalistic fuel was used up in those hey days of Gorkhali bir era. Now, the question is not only about Kalapani, but that should be equivocally protested by everyone. Now now, do I hear anyone protesting, why chu-matlab, kaha ho to kalapni, purai Nepal udaune belama, you kalapani le ke ko tauko dukhau ne hola ra. Diplomatic tackling has always been a failure, for pity Nepal could not produce a single entity (atleast in our times) who could sacrifice individual or small group's vested interest over the greater interest of the nation and its people.

hey Gorkhali-X its easy to put the blame on others isn't it, if you claim that Nepe and his people are full of shit, then why don't you do something instead of complaining that others don't do anything.

I remember I had this physics teacher in high school and he was telling us this story of how he was in that area and they were taking pictures, they were there for some kind of survey, and indian police came and took the film from their cameras. So this problem is really old, why didn't the media pick it up, god knows, the politicians they were too busy filling their pockets. So anyway my point is, in the day of advanced communication and technolgy ( blogs and what not,) it is possible to raise awareness so, I think it would be wise to focus energies on that instead of blaming people. This is major, serious and very deep dangerous problem of Nepal with Indian domination.

Nepal King, Nepali political parties leaders and Nepal government as well as Nepali all media have responsibility.

This problem is not today or yesterday. This problems from 4 decades.

Nepal news, Kantipur Online, gorkha patara, Saptahik are f-u-c-ked them selves. They don't know nothing.

If Media don't tell how general Nepalese know. Therefore maybe most of the Nepalese are stupid.....

as long as the Nepalese people follow leaders that Kiss Indian Ass.......nothins happenin
Al the nepalese abroad can just watch and post angry comments.........Our leaders back home just lick indiand balls.........they are totally controlled by them...and yet we elect them........I am not good at politics or do I have a good knowledge about it...but I havent seen one leader oppose the Indian government for its gradual invasion of Nepal.
Now correct me if I am wrong......................In the SAARC meeting which King Gyandra represented Nepal........he stood up against the Indian Primeminister and told him not to interfere in Nepals internal matters .........now that was a bad move for the king because look where he is at right now............stripped of his power......his generation of shah dynasty who shaped and ruled Nepal dishonoured...disrespected and he might just be kicked out of Nepal....Thats how powerful politics is and with the Indians backing the politicians......Nepal is now breaking up like the pre-shah era.
India housed the terrorist maoists and staged this false propaganda to support Nepal............Now look at them the moaists who killed thousands of Nepalese people and going to be honoured more powerful than the founders of Nepal.
India will have its will.... in and out of Nepal...........and we cant do anything about it .......its kinda too late.......Unless we who are abroad do something ....but who will???..............Indians are more rich than any rich Nepali...more powerful politically..........and have far more reach than we can Imagine..............they have nuclear power.....Navy......airforce......we have nothing. SO what chance do we have ................ I have a dream to go back to Nepal to utilize our vast resourse to bring Nepal out of this dilema...but .......will Nepal still be Nepal????
