We have seen many threads that we have praised our cultural diversity, Nepalipan, etc. in a very colorful way. Being in the West, I have realized that not being able to say NO has hindered myself in many circumstances compare to "Khaires". I simply cannot say NO, particularly if anybody request me. However, internally, I feel like sometimes that I am driven by others than being proactive.

How is this? Is it beneficial to say "Yes" or is this Yes Nepali tradition is a culture or an individual characteristics (e.g. myself). However, I have generalized as culture, because I have found other colleagues of mine also mentioning about Yes issues. Could anybody suggest any tips to improve this yes issue.

I went through the article carefully. I like it. Thanks for forwarding the link. However, I would still be interested to know, is there any beneficial impact of saying "Yes". Thanks.

I say u what man ....I have the same problem...still cant say NO

Now I am slowly getting rid of it ..I am focusing on things I have to do rather than others business ...the problem with us is we dont want to hurt people unless its not directly harming us...but believe me it will kill u on the long run.....just post a big NO on your ceiling ...tha will help;)

About the advantages of saying 'yes' I would say u will be happy for others and not for urself.

Guys, remember Jennifer Wilbanks, the bride who faked her own kidnapping?

Well, all she had to do, was say "I DON"T!!!!". It would have resolved much.

same here rajankhanal i even bought a book on How to say No. It didn't work. Added to that misery..they taught us how to be polite and soft spoken all along..it aggrevates most people out here...

and then one fine day i came across a work colleague Amy. Very insecure and uptight. But then the way she faked her 8 hrs at work was amazing. Powder Puff and put up a face. No, but you know i'll think about it. No, i can't hurt your feelings but i gotto do my thing. It's a pain saying no to you, but sorry i have to..Youre wonderfully wrong...No thats not possible.

Then I started faking mine by giving a thoughtful pause...so the other person knows that i don't agree.

After our work, we'd both sigh and say to hell with fake life...hope it works for you too..
