does anyone know of any good source where i can find info on policies in Nepal before Mahendra's regime? i can only find those documented after mahendra's regime, like the 5 yr development plan.

try Sardar Bhim Bahadur Pandey's "tyas bakhat ko Nepal".. another would be to look at, although it might not have a lot on policy stuff is, "With a King in the Clouds" by Erica leuchtag.

I have only read Bhim Bahadur Pandey's 4 volume book.

You got to be specific.. aba k policy, kasko policy khojeko.. koon period ko.. then it will be easier for us to be of your assistance.

thank you IF, i wanted documented data/articles on ethnic and economic policies after prithivi narayan shah's unification. it could be in the form of laws implemented; mahendra's muluki ain. i guess i've to dig into some old scriptures :(

Sanjays, i'd meet you to talk history, but i've other priorities :P

i was lookin on some information on King Mahendra's Policies, like the gaau farka abhiyaan and all those ... is there a site with the history of nepal anywhere??

I read a review paper of past five decades published on Heidelberg Papers in South Asian
and Comparative Politics (HPSACP) by Devkota, and it has comprehensive references that would be helpful to you.

You might also want to look at Hamro Samaj Ek Adhyayan by Janak Lal Sharma..it has stuff on cultural issues.

You might also wnat to read this: Development of public administration in Nepal: Final report to the government of Nepal, by Merrill R Goodall

I haven't read it but I knew Prof. Goodal was involved with the HMG and was one of the first foreigner expats in Kathmnadu.

Nepal Nirukta, Gyanmani Nepal

Gorkha Durbar ko Itihas (or something like this) by dinesh pant

also the expats living then such as William Kirkpatrick etc wrote books on Nepal... exact title ta thaha chaina, but search for Willian Kirkpatrick.. might be of help with your project. I yhaven't read it either, but people say, it covers a lot..If I were looking for stuff after PN Shah, those were the books I'd look for.. just to get started.
