Nepal backs Japan?s bid to UN Security Council: Report
(nepalnews.com)

Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey (File Photo)
Nepal backs Japan's bid to become a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) but has yet to decide whether to support a resolution on UNSC expansion, reports said. ....

It is true that Japan gives more visible aids than any other country to Nepal.
But, India's invisible helps is I guess more than what Japan gives.
Japan's aid to BP Marg is disaster to Nepal. Japan made that road
which is 0.75m narrower than a standard two lane road. Japan's
aid on BP marg clearly showed its attitude towards Nepal. "Magi
khane lai kahako wide bato ni....". The road will bring more road
accidents than any other roads once it starts operating. ....

Well, India being a neighboring country, certainly has negative
image among nepalis. We should see it in broad sense. India
lets Nepalis go to India and work there mostly unskilled labour
class job... Respect to Nepalis might be an issue many Nepali
would like to raise, in India who respects even their fellow
Indian labours ......... They simply don't separate Nepalis with
other Indians ...... in those unskilled labor market. .......
Nepalis are preferred over Indians in such unskilled labors....

India did not have good 2007 ko sandhi. Thats probably the
valid reason to align to Japanese side. In that sense,
Indians should have shown some respect to Nepal and asked
to rectify the Sandhi in balanced status if India needed vote
in Today's international politics.... JICA is working for Japan
with this perspective, they were planning it long time ago...
especially after bubble economy... and when Japan became
the UN's number 1 donor. Japanese were not feeling good
when they did not get any respect for the Gulf war under
senior bush president. They were never mentioned that they
were the top financial contributor.... then, they realized
it to have a powerful seat in UN.

Looking at the Japan's WW II atrocities and no-formal
apology yet, Japan really don't deserve. In that sense,
India being the 2nd populated country in the world, should
represent UN. But, Indian politicians never realized that
they need vote ........ they never went outside their
country ........ they have no good relationship with even
its bordering country....... I wonder whether Sri Lanka
Nepal and Pakistan will vote for India ..... Indian, like
Japan, should have started building its good relation
with its bordering country........ it could get more than
10 votes just with goodwill gestures.... 10votes when
swing to other your close opponent, its like 20 idle votes.

Now, personally I guess Germany should get the UNSC
positions. Its stand in Iraq war. It has already apologized
what it had done in WWII, unlike Japan, it did not hide
those atrocities. Still, the Japanese people secretly expect
their country to build power and rule east Asia.... It is
happening because the govt. never apologized, and they
always tried to hide .... so public feel scared of talking
WW II as a bad thing that happened from Japanese side.
...

Germany deserves the UNSC position. India should be 7th
and not at this time. India should start build ing its relation
with VOTING nations (swing voters....) like Nepal. Go beyond
India and be more wise in the world and contribute ........
I know Indian movies are seen from turkey to Indonesia,
Indian Chanako spice rules tukey to Indonesia and Nepal
to south africa. But, India should contribue ..... much more
before world realizes that India is a great player in the world.
India at this time is self centered country, sorry to say that.
India's brain in IT sector have benifited only USA .... and
USA will not vote for India, because Indian politics is not
predicable .... they might swing to Russian side when USA wants.
Like in Nepal, there are more than 185 countries where JICA
works and funds in visible projects like in Kathmandu's
7 bridge, water supply and BP marg type of crucial projects...
India has to learn from Japan to be a major player in international
politics, and India should start from now to be 7th UNSC. It
is undeniable that India is world's most populated democratic
country and India's position in UN SC is better than China's
position. China's domestic situation can cripple anytime, as
compared to India, because of her experience in democracy.
India's future is more predictable than china's .... To balance
power in Asia, I personally prefer India over Japan.... But,
India has done nothing to solve and maintain descent relation
it its neighbors.... India always acted like a Bull ... attacking
Sri Lanka in 1987, problem in Nepal in 1989, ..... Pakistan ....
God Bless Indian Leaders, make them more wise not bull
and let India represent south Asia in UNSC. It may take
20 years or 30 years .... remember that japanese
proverb "action without vision is nightmare and
vision without action is day dream".

Having Japan succeed in getting UNSC at this time means
disaster to India. Because Asia won't get 3 seats in UNSC
not in near decades ...., so its better to swing vote against
Japan and make Germany the 6th UNSC member. India should
start working from now. Nepal sidling with Japan might give
an indication that Japanese money is working. Countries where
dictators rule, Japan is free money like country for them...
and many african countries won't give vote to india just
because its most populated democratic country.... because they
don't care democracy. India should promote democracy,
and be a real player in widening democracy around the world,
including Nepal. ..... Should play with Maoists to get hidden
benefits from current crisis in Nepal.

I think both India and Japan deserve to be in the security council.

India because of its rising influence in the world economy and also because of its mega population. It is only fair that a country with billion people need to be represented in a global committe of such import.

Japan because of its existing and continuing influence in the world economy. Plus it is the largest foreign aid donor after the US. Though China and like minded nations disagree, pointing to Japan's war time attrocities, I think the world has moved on beyond those dark days of history.
