It's easy for you all to talk crap like this but you guys don't know how difficult it is to run an organization. if u can't appreciate the responsibility these people are taking then u should have came to the election to take the position.

You are absolutely right Serina.

All these people who criticise are monday morning quarterback who are always complaining. And they just run away when they are asked to do what they preached. It is not worth talking to those kinds of people.. It is just waste of our time.

I hardly see anything happening these days. All the programs I hear about are in East cost. Really needs to do something. Think about it and lets plan.

I think ppl running ANS/CA are bunch of lazy asses. and what the hell were serina and nepalikanchi talking about? if the scociaty has not done anything than how hard can it be to run it.And to answer ur question serena i would have loved to be the president if they were not fighting over the damn position already and still couldn't pick one.
Unless u r part of the committee or married to one of them then u wouldn't be here defending them.

Folks!
One of the reasons why ANS/CA has not been successful is the lack of leadership role and dedication in the association, in addition to the ?Monday Morning Quarterback? attitude from the general Nepali population (members and non-members) here in SoCal.

In the past few years, there has been lots of discussions, arguments and debates between members and Excom/Board of Directors and many changes has have been revised in the by-laws to make ANS/CA work more efficiently. In my opinion, this has been a positive move for ANS/CA, as more and more members became aware of the workings of the society and many hidden questions were answered.

Finally after 2 years of ?war-action?, a real election was held a few months ago. Frankly it was not the usual ?smooth? election/potluck gathering. Many more questions were raised. Many loud voices filled the room. But in the end, the election was over, 4 out of 5 officers were elected. (The President?s position is still open). And, it appeared everyone was quite ?satisfied?.

It takes time for things to change; especially things that have remained unchanged for a long period of time.

ANS/CA seems to be changing (for better of course) and all those SoCal Nepalis reading this thread; don?t give up man?ANS/CA is here to stay and let?s work together to make things happen!

BTW, for one time sake, let?s stop thinking negative and stop complaining (or BITC#!*@)

DrD

Natural Enlargement and Yomama,

Natural Enlargement- regarding your comment about FON:

Just checked out the Friends of Nepal- CA site. FON's events are geared more towards organizing charity events with a goal to make difference in people's lives. They usually organize 2 events a year. In their recent fund raising event, they contributed the $$ raised here in the U.S. to the Devighat Geriatric Center, a Briddhashram Project, which is a home being built for the sick and elderly in Nepal.

They are organizing a lunch reception for Nepali author ManjuShree Thapa and the former head of the BBC correspondent to Nepal this Sunday, July 24th. Check out the posting on the sajha or http://www.FriendsofNepal-LosAngeles.Org/

Take your friends. Hope you will show up.
