KATHMANDU (AFP) - The US ambassador to Nepal warned that the revolt-racked Himalayan kingdom could slide into chaos unless King Gyanendra, who seized power in February, is reconciled with political parties.

Ambassador James F. Moriarty's statement came as the army said Maoist rebels had killed 40 soldiers captured after a battle in the northwest.

"Unless the principles of freedom, civil rights, and democracy once again take root through a process of true reconciliation among the legitimate political forces, I fear Nepal will inexorably slide towards confrontation, confusion and chaos," Moriarty said.

Lets see if the Nepali governement has the balls to carry out the threat.
