Yes, and my statement applies to WHOEVER is in power. We all know who that is in the CURRENT context.

Nirman,
Why don?t you not see their side of story and just bitch, yes just BITCH, about why they do things that may not please you or me. Apparently, you haven?t yet realized how many policemen have died for you, yet you just see some pictures captured by some journalist whose only job is to go to one of those protests and take the pictures when the police happen to beat some people. These policemen follow the orders from above no matter who is in power. Don?t you think they care about others? Do they beat people just for the fun of it? If you think we should beat those police --"ek ek samatera Thoknu parne"--how the f%*k are you any different from these policemen? Who is f@&*%g dumb here??

Moreover, I just said I have little or no sympathy to the guy; however, that does not mean that I fully approve of what the police was doing there.

TO: AnilJShahi [The GURU of ?going to train the Nepal Armed Forces of better training vis-a-vis humanitarian aspects of enforcing the laws?]

Seems like all you see is the PRSENT CONTEXT of Nepal and NOT THE PAST we have lived in the years leading to the present state. No wonder you don?t because you have been living in the U.S for the past decade. If you are showing the concern in the ways people are being handled and how the situation is in the present, let me tell you ? it is no different that what it was say 2 years back. Please do not give and portray misleading information to the general people by showing a mere one picture. If you want I can come up with more pictures to argue against the humanitarian s**t you are talking about. Let me tell you something - the people in armed forces are also people of Nepal living a life and it so happens to be there profession ?.. Just cause they are on the court of the government (they fought 2 years back, 3 years back and have been fighting since the beginning) trying to restore peace in the country does not mean that when they are getting killed and shot at no one voices there views ?.. but do not get me wrong ? I am not asking you to be the voice!! I know you ?.

Anil Ji,

You are right, who ever is in POWER does the same, but why this "ISSUE" came up when KG is in absolute power. This scenario has been around for 14 yrs, and all leaders of "DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATION" of people of the KINGDOM of NEPAL have been doing the same.

For instance, why do we just BLAME the "NEPAL POLICE" or "RNA" for what is happening, how about "TEACHING" the people of NEPAL the meaning of peaceful DEMONSTRATION and make them implement the method, when i mean PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION , NO DHUNGA MUDA towards "FORCE", NO TIRE BURNING, NOT DESTROYING the so LITTLE infrastructure we have.

WELL, if the people do follow PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION algorithm then i guess we would not have to "AGRUE" on this matter anymore.

JUST MY ONE CENT.

JAI NEPAL.

DCKETA,

You are absolutely right that we need serious changes in the way we protest too. I am sure you also know that this is not going to happen overnight -- it requires unflinching and continuous efforts on the parts of those who know better to have the mass transform their methods of protests.

However, any expectations of changes in civil behavior MUST be met with settings of examples by the authorities FIRST. The need to start a trend towards adhering to the rule of law MUST begin with those giving orders from above, then those who follow orders, then only can we expect the mass to stop and think before they burn tires and engage in dhunga-muda.

Only when the authorities (order givers and takers) exhibit greatness of restraint perhaps we can expect the mass to do the same.

Why now? First of all, the need to question the authority becomes all the more important when the latter is even more repressive, which is obviously the case with ABSOLUTISM of KG. Having said that, I am sure there were individuals and rights groups who raised questions about methods of enforcing the laws prior to the royal coup also.

I cannot speak for others, but for myself, I can only say that I was WRONGLY indifferent (or concerned not enough) about issues that affected our lives before. Thanks to KG, I have woken up and am fully charged to take on those issues now. IF and WHEN democracy is restored, and if the democratic governments then also exhibit blatant disregard for public rights, trust me, I will not keep quiet then either.

Anil Ji,

Your IDEALOGY towards present situation is well understood and yours, not only yours, but many CITIZEN's interest towards bringing "LIBERAL DEMOCRACY" is well accepted, but the
"ABSOLUTISM of KG" was forced by so called DEMOCRATIC FORCES of our nation, leaving behind so "VIABLE" choice for the head of state.

I totally agree, With you about setting up examples by the "AUTHORITIES" but wouldnot the public will take the trend in different manner, per say, "SECURITY FORCES" cant do anything, so WE can engage ourself in more "VIOLENT" demonstration. I would rather say, the "PEACEFUL" demonstration can only be achived if both sides (AUTHORITIES and 'DEMOCRATIC FORCES') agree and act accordingly and Dhunga-muda, tire burning, Chakka Jaam, Nepal Band et al, could be stopped only with mutual understanding.

quote- "I am sure you also know that this is not going to happen overnight -- it requires unflinching and continuous efforts on the parts of those who know better to have the mass transform their methods of protests."
You mean, let the DEMOCRATIC MASS destroy so little infrastructure we have, let them injure thousands of "SECURITY FORCES", let them bring a hold on daily life of innocent citizens before we establish THE trend of PEACEFUL demonstration, do you think its a valid recommendation?

Correct, i also can speak for myself, and i do agree, we all have different perception on what happened and what will happen in the coming days. Saying this, i would also like to thank KG for bringing so much concern about the present situation on you, a responsible citizen of our NATION and bunch of thanks to you for your enthusiasm and dedication in restoring "DEMOCRACY".

Jai Nepal

कहिलेकाही सरकारमा को बस्यो भन्ने मात्र भन्दा पनि बाँकी state mechanism लाई पनि हेर्नु पर्दछ।

After 2046, one of the things Congress and UML did at their best was to degrade the image of the "state". When Congress was in power, what they did their best was to shuffle the beauracracy, including the police, like unncessary transfers, inappropriate rewards and promotions, आफ्ना मान्छेलाई माल आउने ठाउँमा सरुवा etc while the UML would go out in the streets and their main piece of entertainment was to make a mockery of the police. When UML was in power, they further overtook the Congress in such activities, Bamdev made an ex- Sub Inspector to a DIG, that was the peak of stupidity.

The public did not trust Nepali Congress and the UML anymore, but Congress and UML were quite successful in also erasing any of the trust the public ever had over the state mechanism itself. This was one of the greatest mistake of the parties.

Army had always been there to lick the balls of the king, but Nepal Police has a different history. Personally, I doubt whether there is any imperative in feeding an army to lick the balls of the king in Nepal. Nepal Police, however, was constituted after the "Liberation Army" of the Nepali Congress in 2007 saal and had remained a pretty democratic institution, as compared to rest of the civil administration bodies. The salutation of "Jai Nepal" follows from there. Even while being mobilized against Maobadi, police was not blamed for atrocities as much as the army is now. Dhruba Bdr Pradhan, the then IGP, was one of those first persons who called Maobadi a "political force" (interview with the BBC) and stressed on a political solution. It was only after the meddling of the force with Achyute Kharel and Gundas alike that the Nepal Police turned into a undemocratic force. I believe, still the ranks of police are filled with personnels who know what is fair and what is not, what is human rights and what is not, however, it is their duty to carry out the instructions. If the "mantri" says "lathi charge" then they are there to charge. If the "sachib" says "thokide", they will open fire, that is their job. Still, ranks in police show enough sympathy to those who deserve.

If a people-based and uncorrupt regime takes over, makes lawful decisions and lawful administration, I am pretty hopeful that Nepal Police will still turn out to be a pretty democratic and human rights respecting body.

Keep rolling...

this strike against fuel hike does not make sense at all. When international fuel price has risen to $64 / barrel how can you still expect our government to provide fuel in the price of rs30 / liter (<$.50/liter)... this is just absurd move.... and political parties have always used this price hike to fuel in their andolan...

If you want to fight for valid reason, don't fight just taking advantage of people's sentiment.

Deuba/UML govt did price hike few months back and they came out saying that was needed move because of increase in price in internation market. Which was true , now this government does the same move and they start crying foul.. come on thats not fair...

I understand this government has done some bad jobs in civil rights and on enforcing autocratic rule again people, but that does not mean you should fight for every move they make.... I think this decision is completely fair... in US which is known for the cheapest fuel provider in world people are paying $3 /gallon how can you expect government in nepal to supply fule in rs.30 / liter....

Bichara haru ko tyatikai tauko phutayera.... if we denounce the human right voilation by security forces then we should also denounce these acts by public too... A crime does not give justification to other crime.... after all cops are human too and SEE THEIR BLOOD IS RED TOO....

This politics with NOC should come to end. Political parties have always used NOC for their political benefits. I think government should privatise most of the corporations like NTC , NOC and RNAC .. anyone who comes to power take advantage of these corporation for their political benefits and corruption...

Girija's Dhamija and Lauda air scam sent RNAC to complete loss.

All political parties reluctance to increase fuel price for their political benefit have send NOC to complete loss..

Gyane's feb 1 closure of mobile usage sent NTC to loss....

We should privatize all corporations, there should be no politics with economic forces of country....
