We, the nonresidential Nepalese citizens of San Francisco, are concerned regarding the present degrading situation of Democracy and Human rights in Nepal. We strongly urge the head of the government of Nepal, the King, to reconcile with the political parties and Maoists (CPNM) for immediate reinstatement of peace and rule of law. We also demand the all the students arrested by security forces during peaceful demonstrations be released with out any prejudice and stop such arrests in the future. Meanwhile, this society has a grave concern about the children, helpless women and elders being used as human shields by CPNM during their course of Civil Wars violating the norms of the Geneva Convention. We expect that the CPNM treats the Prisoners of War humanely and releases captured troops in Pili, Kalikot with out any delay.
Finally, we welcome the decision made by the Supreme Court regarding lifting of the ban on the FM stations to broad cast news.
