This company provides VoIP solutions. But see how it has managed to hide itself from the government of Nepal.

No.
Not at all.
There was NO scandal -- huge or small -- of any sort in Boston.

Else, I would NOT be the one using my own name and putting my credibility in line on
this GBNC Web site ... in a public forum like this again and again to share ideas and information, and to take part in various debates here since the year 2000.

Since you brought this up, let me say:

In Boston, as I have discussed before on Sajha, I did have falling out with two individuals:

1. Rajesh Babu Shrestha (over how he ran the GBNC then), and with

2. Shailesh Nath Gongal (someone who I encouraged and helped to get into MIT's Urban Planning program from Regional Engineering College in Durgapur, West Bengal, India.)

About Rajesh -- I wish him well.
No hard feelings now.

About Shailesh -- I can say that I am neither the first nor the last person he has backstabbed and lost as a friend. And that's the way he is -- who am I change his genetic code? Unable to deal with me face to face and unable to resolve the disagreements there and then, he did his best to turn a few impressionable classmates against me then -- and tried to paint me as everyone's enemy. But that attempt has largely backfired, for I am the one who is in touch with most of our classmates now. Shailesh is the way he was, and I wish him well.

*****

Frankly, I could care less where these attacks on Sajha are coming from these days.

I know that of the 3000-plusa unique visitors, only about two to three individuals are involved in these attacks, and that's life.

On a larger note, when and if you work in Nepal in a public setting, you guys will have to endure many false attacks and face slimey backstabbings that are going to be a lot more severe.

When was the last time you heard/read a Nepali expressing a genuine joy
in a non-relative's success?

Meantime, it's better to learn how to deal with these attacks -- and not be fazed by them.

NOW: Can we get back to Voice Over Internet Protocol (voIP) stuff?

Getting back to VoIP, I found this US government Web site quite useful.

Let's spread more awareness about VoIP, and let's find ways to connect millions more Nepalis to the phone grid. If we let things in the Nepali government's ministers' hand,
at the rate they are going, they'll start charging us tax for Yahoo and Hotmail
accounts too

Even Girija Pd. Koirala is an asshole. ha ha...

I really liked the analysis by sadabichar. This ashu is writing all nonsense to defend himself but he miserably failed. haha. He surely have problem... that I know.. although I cannot analyze as Sadabichar did.

As Girija says Mero Goru ko 16 takka, same thing Ashu is doing as well. Every time he is criticized, he never forgets to bring up those f*kinng Old Boston stuff to tarnish his own image badly. This guy is a nut.

Ashu,

I admire the fact that you went back to KTM although being a Harvard Graduate. Where people are giving big talks, you are for real. I understand why you defend your image during the personal attacks. In MBA, you learn the requirement of ethics for the professional. I cheer you for this.

Having said that, I find you taking things some what over board. You brought up the couple of names above. I have no clue who are these people. But you gotta back it up your stance with proof.

All the best in what you are doing.

Peace

First, Premdai needs to stop obsessing about Ashu. Man, your jealousy stinks!
Second, PD needs to get an education on plagiarism. Fu*king don't know what he's talking about. Even a high school kid could educate him.
Third, he needs to get a life.
Fourth, Sadabichar needs to take his own advice and chill off.
Finally, so Ashu's got an education from Harvard, GET over it!

Can anybody enlighten me how this VoIP thing works....I was always thinking of getting a site that can enable us to call(for free) normal telephone sets from a computer with an internet connection ...is there one already?
1; How does a site like that can effect the revenue of NTC?
2;How big the effect will be if it is used to its full scale in a country like Nepal?
3;Is the revenue collected by Nepal's govt. or NTC from such a programme worth comparable to the people's right to cheap, fast, and reliable information?
4;Which one is best for the country in the long term?

Definitely a professional answer is our best choice.

ashu is raising basi basi kura because, knowing very well that those two guys of his Boston-era will not be showing up here in this thread to defend the ashu's charges against them, Ashu wants to tell people that they are black... and by saying others black he thinks he automatically would appear to be white. That's the one fu*cking tactic he is trying to play here. This is ashu's sinister act of convincing people that he is GOOD and others are BAD. This is the way he tries to make people believe that what he says is ONLY CORRECT... not other's opinions.

He again and again brings those old stuff (which are difficult to be verified) to uplift his black image.

Oops, I browsed this thread to see if there is VoIP thing, but ended on reading some non-VoIP stuffs. But as usual, I fond few fox are attacking Ashu and " Ashu like" people needlessly.

Yes, it is true that Bell-curve is the mostly used statistical approximation. No one should have gut to challenge this fact. And most natural phenomenons can be modeled with this curve. Nothing is worng when generalizing things. You donot have to go to skewed curve if you are not presenting your research paper in this thread. So, Ashu is right in using Bell curve here.

Regarding Ashu's dream about "people connected to telephone grid, etc etc",- what is wrong there? That is what every national planner thinks. Yes, it is the technology, neither NTC nor any government can stop on its development and deployment. A few cowards may think NTC might loose business etc etc crap. But no one can stop the VoIP. Again Ashu is right.

I personally do not like Girija's political stand. But hey, if you believe in democracy, believe on votes. Girija won the election with big margin. Whoever read the nepali news analysis before NC election must have thought that Girija is gone. Those buzzers were false. So, we have to accept that there is serious flaw in nepali news analysis. Partly it is because of incompetent journalist (Bhure takure journalists). So, again Ashu is right.

Ashu makes a lots of sense when he writes. I donot care where he studied and what his background is. But the fact is that he is way ahead of these attackers on intellect level. I personally donot know who ASHU is. For me, he is just another Sajhaite. Who knows, I might start liking one of these ASHU attacker's writing/ criticism if they upgrade their level one day...

Good job Ashu - keep it up.

Thanks, SD Man, for your kind words.
I appreciate them.

Time-permitting, I'll be here - sharing ideas, information, knowledge and contacts,
and, basically, doing my best to help others to liven up this forum.

All that and more -- from a fact-based, evidence-driven, transparent yet a questioning and a no-nonsense perspective with, hopefully, abundance of humor. :-)

well, sd_man's observation might be right if you don't go deep into the NC's convention preparation mechanism adopted in hastly mood. Girij LLC used the very crucial time when Narahari Acharya and RCP were in jail after Feb 01 move of KG, and they were trying not to knock the door and there were trying to force the govt to release them without any bail or Judge's order. As RCP and NA found that Girija LLC were silently nominating the representative for the national convention exploiting the situation of real local leaders in local jails around the country and most of the meetings to nominate the convention representatives were conducted quite away from the real location. Everybody in Kangress knows this situation. This is one reason NA and RCP had to give up their stand, knock the supreme court for their own release because their own cadres were supposed to get were not getting any nominations because of the tricks played by Sushil and Girija LLC. Lets not forget that Saddam husain had 99% vote, Mushraff had more than 99% votes in his favor, and it happens in all autocratic societies and Nepali Congress is also run by autocratic regime of Koirala family and when the whole election process is wrong, we should not be surprised with the 90% vote obtained by Girija. When NC is owned by Girija LLC, and that is the reason you don't find additional public in his 3 year long Sada Andolan. I am very proud of the journalists they are writing against Girija and they deserve salute. Can journalists in Pakistan write things against Mushraff, but in Nepal journalist have shown courage to write against Girja LLC and thats great part of our Jounalism. As long as Girija LLC don't democratize and use ethical route to election, his sadak andolan won't get any additional support from public. Public support clearly shows the real situation behind girja's public image, whatever votes he get in NC convention.

Jai Nepal.

Kaski,
You are right, I am not deep in to NC politics. I really have not analyzed (nor want to analyze) the inside policts of NC. I wish, I had time to analyze those all and write in detail. Whatever information I get is through nepali news, bbc news, indian news and some independent news groups (sometime talks in sajha). However limited the sources are, but the fact is GP koirala was elected almost unopposed in his party. You can not blame to Sushil Koirala and GP's inside politics. Infact, it was a very good opportunity of Narahari had he have wide support within party. Narahari might be better but GP was audited more better, that is why he won election. Not to accept his victory is double stranded democratic's opinion. And you simply can not compare nepali politics (inter party or intra party) with that of Musaraf era Pakistan and Saddam era Iraq. You donot have to ask anyone to find the difference because you know that, I know that and everyone (who is interested in world politics) knows that. I also personally feel that GP should have given a chance to new faces to drive the party. But those who drive NC choose GP.

If you really want to confront these views, we can discuss further on this thread.
