Hey, John. Great stuff! haha! Brought back some memories. For me, I thought parents got married and had a kid..got married again and had another kid..and so on. I though life was all about weddings and parties back then :D

When I asked my mom how was I born..she told me that she found me in the forest. Not that I minded...I thought being a forest kid was cool :D And I used to tell my baini that she was found in a garbage can.... the poor lil kid cried like anything. Yea, kids can be cruel :D

Oh yea, I had one embarassing incident concerning about this miracle of nature....in grade 6, we had sex education where I found out about sperm and egg (plus the human sex anatomy..but I wasn't really interested in the body parts :D...sperms and egg was more fascninating). Anyway I told my mom that about my new discovery and thought I would brief her incase she didn't know..yea right! Anyway, after I told her...she seemed to be really intrigued..and asked me to tell my grandmother. And boy, did I feel proud and felt like it was my duty to tell everyone about my new discovery. Confidently, I went to my grandmother and told her about the sperm....'saaano bheguta' tadpole ....I even used my finger to show her how it wiggled it's tail. And then how the tadpole pushed itself inside the egg. And tada! Hajurama, thats how we are born. My grandma was stunned..she didn't say anything and went away. I looked at my mom..she had a big grin on her face. I never knew what I did wrong till few years later, I suddenly realized..my grandma probably thought the tadpole and the egg in the human anatomy version..damn!

Hiya Meeru,
How have you been, long time no see girl!!! Thanks for reading.

Sitara,
Thanks for reading...how are your classes going on?

Xena,
Thanks for reading. Yes, the first lesson pertaining to reproduction starts with amphibians. But it took me sometime for me to relate it to the human reproduction, amphibians did not have any physical contact.

John

Just wondering, are you doing a Phd in Reproduction, or human psychology? :-)

John - Great stuff. This reminds me of the time I asked my dad, when I was about 7 or so, how a baby is born. I still rememebr that moment to this day. The funny thing though is when I went and told my friends what I had found out, they laughed and thought I was nuts. A couple of months later, when one of our teachers talked about reproduction, many heads in my class turned to look at me. Man, I felt like a genius then.

Manish, your story reminds me of a similarly amusing story in Nepal. Apparently, there was this doctor who got posted to a rural area in Nepal where he came across a man who was taking Nilocan and Gulab chakki because the guy's wife complained , "pet dukhyo", and the guy out of kindness decided to take the pills himself thinking the contraceptive would work the same way on him!

:)

John,

Very interesting topic. I am sure everybody has interesting story to share. I wish I could share mine (now I realize what I lost by losing my anonymity !).

On a different point, frogs do have physical contact, although not a coupling one, called amplexus for fertilization.

Hunk,
Just masters in engineering.....and kindergarden in sajha.

Billions of blue blistering barnacles haddock,
The contraceptive episode had me in splits...funny but true. I wouldn't be surprised if his wife swallowed a condom with a glass of water, but it portrays the inability of family planning commission in nepal to disseminate useful information pertaining to sex, there are thousands of people who do not read and write, an animated visual aid would just work fine.

Thanks Nepe,
I learnt a new terminology today, as you said there is a physical contact, but no copulation, the male's action is similar to one soothing his wife during labor. Plus nepe, I am not anonymous either, more than 2 dozen people in and out of sajha know it is me. My dad reads my posts too. I just try to be honest with what I have come across although it feels embarrassing sometimes.
Once again, thanks for the useful info.

KaleKrishna,
No comments.....buwa reads it too.

Was little bored, hence started digging old articles.
Innocent kids are, aren't they? and they are the ones who come up with their ignorant conclusions!

Enjoyed it throughly :)
