Just like the system of caste, discrimination and corruption the politics of Nepal, in the same way social segregation is seeming to become the slogan of the upper class politicians even in the United States.

If you look at the government of George Bush, it is not that difficult to find out how a select few constantly gains the upper hands to be able to segregate and rule the littler people. It's a source of wonder how the majority of people are deciding their fate.

it strikes me that a minority of ppl are deciding the fate of hte majority. that's because ppl dont exercise their right to vote. especially the newly college educated kids.. and yes, the system is stacked against the little people. that's the way it works. kids who graduate from good schools end up with high paying jobs and send their kids to expensive private schools, where they are prepped to enter top schools...and the cycle continues. the african american kid from the ghetto is pretty much fuked.

Governance is a function society gives to a select few - through consensus/competition in a democracy and through coercion in a dictatorship. The imbalance of social, political and economic power may never completely cease to exist but the trend in human history, as I see it, has been pointing to a more egalitarian distribution of power among the diffent interest groups in a society. Of course, the re-distribution of power by itself creates new elites, thus the playing field will never be flat for everyone all the time. Therfore there will always be be new elities and new underclasses and the cycle will continue. But with each cycle the rules will probably (or hopefully) change in favor of the underclass and the degree of disparity between the haves and have-nots, while still existing, will get narrower.

Just my thoughts ...
