Even the patience of some royalists has collapsed now. How long can the monarch continue this way? It would be nice to hear from sajhaites who have defended the King vociferously in the past. Do you still think that your lord is going to save the nation? Or now you are convinced that he is a reckless stupid wannabe dictator who is pushing the country from the brink, like Dipta Prakash Shah, one time palace-loyalist opines in this article. What do the sajha royalists have to say on the King's ''progress towards peace and real democracy''? Do you stick to your past conviction that your lord will deliver or now your eyes have opened? Pls enlighten us.......... - http://www.kantipuronline.com/nepali/kolnews.php?&nid=54805

nice writing except that the blame is put on the 'sashak barga'. doesn't come right out and say the obvious. some self censorship right here. can't blame Dipta Shah - he's got to play safe. reads like a writing of somebody who or whose family has always been a beneficiary of the royal regime. cautious writing of this kind is very typical of that class. i give him A++ on the art of 'fence straddling' or 'tight rope walking." he should think about going into politics - a royal summon may come soon if he keeps it up with a promise of a royal jelly. newuser, you call that "... patience of some royalists collapsing..."? you think royalists' eyes have opened up or will they ever - when they stand to gain more with the consolidation of the powers of the royal regime. nepali snow leopard doesn't change its spots overnight or even in its lifetime...although depending on when you spot the snow leopard (morning or noon or evening) one tends to think that its skin color has undergone actual color changes. i think they call that 'iridescence'...don't mistake 'iridescence' for the actual changing of colors. the question is not if royalists are losing patience, so you may leave out the author of this piece out of the equation - the question is whether even opportunistic non-royalists have become royalists with the consolidation of royal powers....

New User, that kantipur article was not written by Dipta Shah, whoever he is. His name rings a bell, but I can't quite place him. That article was written by Dish Prakash Shah. Anyway, my opinion, however horrid, stays the same. Only the name changes from Dipta to Dish. My apology to Dipta Shah if he is reading this - even if he is not reading this. Ciao!

Karmapa, Its Dipta Prakash indeed, when half 'प' and 'त' are written together it looks like 'स' in nepali unicode. eg. प्त, दिप्तप्रकाश। I don't have enough time to read the whole article though.

I think people are confusing Dipta Prakash Shah, a fifity-something guy who was nominated member of Rastriya Sabha (Upper House of the parliament) and a retired Brig. General who was sacked by King G with Dipta (Bdr) Shah, a twenty-something guy who works as a risk analyst in DC. Dipta Shah and Sajha stalwart, Nepe, have exchanged verbal blows with each other in not too distant past. The article is from the former Shah.

The way the King has been ruling, I feel the Monarchy in Nepal does not have much of a future. I am pretty convinced we will see the end of the monarchy in our lifetimes. I just cant think of any way, other than continued supression of dissent, for the Monarchy to continue in Nepal. The question in my mind is not if or when the Monarchy will go so much as *how* it will go. The stronger the curent supression, the stronger the eventual explosion of dissent.

Just to reiterate Dr. Strangelove's info. The Kantipur article indeed appears to be from the former king nominated member of Rastriya Sabha, Dipta Prakash Shah and does signal what we call "मर्न लागेको भैंसीलाई जुम्राले पनि छोड्छ"। Dr. Strangelove is also right that I did have a couple of conversations with DC's Dipta Shah. The latest one was as recently as two weeks ago in nepaldemocracy@googlegroups. Mr. Shah was unhappy with me for publicizing in the group Peacejournalism's article that among other things has reported that pro-democracy NY rally was attended by a total of 62 people. Mr. Shah also attributed four advisor's quitting Peacejournalism to my "manipulation". Mr. Shah was very active after Feb 1 and during a pro-king rally in DC several months ago. When I asked if his earlier views have changed, he wouldn't reply. However, he mentioned about "figurehead" monarchy in one of our exchanges without elaborating much.
