Jehovah's Witnesses, also known as the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (with headquarters in Brooklyn, New York), was officially founded in 1884 [as the Zion's Watch Tower and Tract Society (originally the Zion's Watch Tower in 1879), officially adopting the name of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1931], by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916). In 1870, Russell was exposed to the teachings of William Miller, one of the founders of the Second Adventist Movement and acquired an interest in end time prophecies. Russell originally denied the doctrine of Hell, and would go on to reject nearly every other Christian doctrine, as well as add many physically and spiritually dangerous doctrines of his own making. Many of these unique and bizarre teachings were to be found in his six volume series titled, Studies in the Scriptures.
Tulsi giri belongs to Jehovah's witness.
Based on their interpretation of Bible,Jehovah's witness donot participate in politics and donot support one politician over another. So what is he doing endorsing a ruthless autocratic regime?

(Mr Giri, who belongs to Nepal's tiny Jehovah's Witnesses religious community, has returned from self-imposed exile in Bangalore, India.Source:BBC after Feb. 1)

How can a cult member of a different religion be allowed to run as a prime minister of a country that is ruled by a king who believes is an incarnation of a Hindu god?

You seem to believe that the current regime makes sensible choices and hence your dillemma.

Tulsi Giri has been a Jehovah's witness for several years now and if accounts are to be believed, was also a minister of some sort within the church during his stay in Sri Lanka or Bangalore or whichever rock the man was under for the last 20 odd years.
The current regime is not known for making rationale, sensible choices and thus the prime position at the head of power that has been offered to Mr. Giri who happened to come out of his self imposed exile at the express wishes of the King.

Politics is an arena where you change principles based on what suits you and helps in personal advancement so it is not so unfathomabable that Mr. Giri would have abandoned all principles to grab any power (and the chance to become an even bigger bank defaulter) !!

It's a three ring circus at present in Nepal---one bigger clown than the other!

It's called Politics.

When things were not favorable for him...... he left the country... they think this, how to lead the life and sustain.... so easy way for him perhaps was to join that group.

But things changed in Nepal... and he was offered that post.... Can you blame him for accepting that position?

T Giri is nothing here... question those who brought him and put him there!! ha ha ha..

That's called politics playing by a politicians.

When Nepalese will feel that he is truely useless, they will wipe him as well... But so far he has not been wiped out.

I think 7 parties are going to root him out, isn;t it?

I-Zen,

I think where I stand on the issue is pretty obvious....but...if it makes the conversation more interesting, I will be happy to play devil's advocate and speak to the "goodness" of the cult of Jehovah's witnesses.

FYI: Celeb members in the past have apparently included more than one member of the Jackson 5 (Michael and Janet) included!....perhaps. Mr. Giri has some interesting stories he can divulge :-))
