Guys,
I was watching a movie called "When Harry met Sally" this weekend and was kind of awestruck by the claim which Billy Crystal, the actor made that a man and a woman can never be just friends beacuse everytime a stupid thing called sex comes in between the relationship and it eventually turns out to be an affair of love or something.

I have never thought of that with my friends who are girls but the movie made me think twice on that. What do you guys have to say about this? Can a man and a woman just be a friend or when they become friend something more is likely to happen than a mere friendship?

Being friends with the other sex is entirely possible and has its merits . A last minute stand in for some party you cant afford to be seen alone. Someone whos handy when u need to move your base. change a litebulb.( esp if u are a floozy.. dun look at me.. i am apt!) Um..have i run out alreadyy??? Re kya.. I do not see at all why gals and guys cant be friends? Even convent gals have good male friends , no offence , hee hee.. just being cheeky. I for one, like em around for they always seem to think the world of you and does not get catty nor do they scramble to get past you to get that last Mango top you have been waiting all season for. And they think you always look and smell nice. Where does the sex thing come about in all of this? Methinks its all up to oneself to keep it sane. :) Keep raining men,,,, hallelujah, i say!

Yes, they can be friends, but the sexual attraction to some extent can not be denied....and yeah if both the parties, ie guy and girl, are homosexual then its a different ball game.

it depends on whether the guy and girl find one another attractive. if so, then friendship alone cannot last. all TV shows with a male and female lead characters have some sort of sexual tension. the only exception is will and grace, where Will is gay. gracie finds will extremely attractive, but alas the attraction is not reciprocal. so yes, a girl and a guy can be friends if 1) one friend is gay 2) one is unattractive.

I think guys and girls can be friends. There is that element of attraction, but you can't be attracted to EVERY FRIEND OF YOURS whos a girl!! I mean, like Kramer says ,"COMMON!!!!". If you are attracted to someone, its all good. After all love starts out as friendship. The reason our society boycotts or tries to boycott a guy's and girl's relationship is to avoid that sexual relationsip before marriage. And since the turn of the 90s, our society's been pretty damn UN-SUCCESSFUL!
