The voters of Kathmandu have always done a good job electing unique rather anti-establishment candidates with few exceptions.Padmaratna has always been considered a left-wing.He seem to have enjoyed the non-conformist norms of capital voters. Kathmandu slapped the pro-panchayat candidates by electing mayor and deputy-mayor of banned parties in 2043 B.S. election.Similarly by electing firebrand Madan Bhandari who had challenged the white elephant couple blocks from his microphone:). I wondered who would the legal voters of Kathmandu elect if elections were to happen today. Impessively, they have always been flowing against the wind while electing their representative. Who would you vote for? I would vote for a nepali version of "Ernesto che-Guevara".If it he had existed and decided to run for the public office.:).I am in a desperate search for "Che" at this time. Don't refrain this is democracy in action.

I don't think that Guavera would be a good idea as he was a failure too. I guess it's the same guavera in 'motorcycle diaries'.

With all due respect,I have to disagree with you on this."Che Guevara"wasn't a failure. As most of the world has become a victim of brain-washed new order expounded by the pro-empirialist/pro-capitalist media marketing the image of a man who fought for justice has been badly manipulated. "Che Guevara"didn't represent the modern day corporate crooks and corrupt but ordinary human beings. As much as I disagree with the marxist political philosophy that he embraced to fight injustice,I admire his courage and willingness to speak the truth.Yes,Che Guevara would make an honest politician,I donot have an inch of doubt on that.An external threat that comes from powerful establishments (and neighbors around us)needs a voice like that of dignified Che.Minus communist ideologies and violance that he had to adhare as with no options left,"Che" to me a modern day Christ. Society like ours need not just a violent insurgency for grand political ambitions(rather an illusion)it needs a non-violent social revolution against the class that rules dividing other classes. In the global context,Che would make the most eligible candidate to represent the third world societies as a spokesman. The man who fought for equality and equanimity(like buddha)how could he be the case of a failure.Yes,he is the same Guevara played by Gael Garcia Bernal.

I don't have much knowledge on him. May be i should study sometime. But we need our candidate from gallies of ktm, instead of creating role model. Keshav sthapit is ready to go for candidancy. We first have to define what we want. I think that at the moment, we just need any disaster prevention expert to prepare for upcoming earthquake in ktm, and to prevent its devastation.

Che Guevara to represent Nepal in general not just a mayor of Kathmandu. My apologies for the mis-interpretation.Well,my knowledge are limited too but as always my doubts have not refrained from the intentions of super-powers and empires of the world. Like a dignified person a dignified nation is hardly carried away by the threats directed from the stronger nations.Economic hardships and unstable political climate is the result of endangered dignity. It takes a dignified commoner who is willing to risk his life for the restoration of dignity in the hearts of millions instead of a political messiah whose intentions are always unclear. And Che was one of those individual we can hardly ignore. To study him is to study your ownself.Do you feel down and uncomfortable when you see injustice around you?If you do you have read Che.It is plain and simple as that.

May be it's like the movie 'balidan'. The people raised their voice against injustice and later fall into the same trap after getting into power. But it's sad that this movie is banned in Nepal now. But I like all the songs which talks about the poor people and afterall Rames is just great. Koi ko ghar ma dakdar ko chakadi, koi ta herchha aspatal naheri hamro nepal ma, ko ta bhane ba or ma pass, koi ta bhane rata din daura ghas hamro nepal ma.
