So, here is my partly self-promotional and partly pro-democracy promotional video clip from the event I had been promoting in the following thread.

The organizers had allocated few minutes for me to recite a ghazal. However, I also took chance to say a few words to Krishna Pahadi, who happens to be my classmate during my college years in Ascol, and to the Citizen's Movement for Democracy & Peace (CMDP), Nepal, which, as we are aware, is "led" (they prefer to call it "co-ordinated" instead) by Pahadi and other respected personalities from the civil society of Nepal.

I basically reminded/appealed CMDP for two things,

1. For the time being, until the political parties redeem themselves to regain people's faith, an ad hoc political leadership of the movement for democracy is at the hand of the civil society.

2. CMDP needs to declare it's fight having been not at one front (against the King), but at three fronts (against the King, against the incompetent leadership of political parties and against the violent method and communist indoctrination of the Maoists.)

My ghazal also tried to reflect that, at least the second point amply.

The ghazal itself was a recycled version of an old ghazal I had composed sometime in 2003 to mark the beginning of our youth becoming vocal for change.

The difference between the two version marks how far we've come in being vocal and determined for change. Should I put it this way, my ghazal was a living thing. It grew up.

The ghazal probably does not have much literary value as it is totally rhetorical in content and style. However, I will feel rewarded if it has served the purpose of standing in solidarity with Nepali people's fight and longing for full democracy well.

Finally a few names that I must thank for the video. Paramendra Bhagat for camera, Sanjaya, Mridula, Anil and other friends of Alliance for Democracy and Human Rights in Nepal (ADHRN) for organizing the event and of course my family for understanding my passion.

(As if it is my Oscar night, ehehe !)

अब तल्लो शेरले कति मीठो भाषामा उही कुरो भन्नी भएसी माथिल्लो शेरमा राजाका शब्द सापट लिएर गजललाई किन बिटुलो पार्न परेको थियो।

श्री,

वर्गिकरणको हिसाबले यो गजल प्रचार साहित्य (propaganda ) मा पर्छ । अलिक प्रिय नाम दिने हो भने शायद सक्रियतावादी साहित्य (assertive/activist literature) । स्वभावैले यो वर्गको साहित्यमा सन्देश स्वामी र कलात्मकता चाहिं सेवक हुन्छ ।

त्यसैले पनि तपाईको यो सानो प्रशंसा मेरो लागि पोल्टामा अटाई नअटाई भए ।

अनि मैले राजाको शब्द सापटी लिएँ र भन्या ? "बाटो बिराएका" भन्ने शब्दावली त मैले २००३ कै संस्करणमा प्रयोग गरेको हुँ । फेरि राजा जो आफै दिगभ्रमित छन्, उनले कसरी "बाटो बिराउनु" शब्लावलीलाई प्याटेन्ट गर्न सक्छन् र ?

नेपे गुरु,

गजलका प्रत्येक शब्दलाई कति गहन जिम्मेबारी दिनुपर्दो रहेछ भन्ने बल्ल अवगत भयो,
तपाईको प्रस्तुति हेरेर। मैले सिक्नु पर्ने धेरै रहेछ। मैले त सिङ्गो शेरको समष्ट अर्थ मात्र
खोज्ने गर्थेँ।

गजल पढेर मात्र त यसको गहिराइ नाप्न अलिक मुस्किल नै हुने रहेछ क्या रे, सुन्नु नै पर्ने
रहेछ।

प्रस्तुति अब्बल छ। सुन्ने र हेर्ने मौका दिनु भएकोमा धेरै धेरै धन्यबाद।

सप्पै दम्तरीहुरलाई धन्यवाद एउटै थालमा पस्कें है मैले ।

मैले बेला बेलामा कागज हेरेको र केहि अड्केको तमाशा त हेरिहाल्नु भो । तैपनि माया गरेर तारीफ गरिदिनु भयो, दंग नै छु ।

हिन्दी उर्दु गजलका मुशायरा देख्नु सुन्नु भा छ भने देख्नु भा छ गजलको शक्ति र सौन्दर्य, मेरो यो imperfect प्रस्तुति को के कुरा र ।

कतै मौका पाएँ गजल सुनाउन र भिड्ड्यो खिचाम्न भने, अब मेसो पा छु, गरम्ला डाम्लोड ।

दम्तरीहुरले पनि मौका पर्दा खिचाम है भिड्ड्यो गजलवाचनको ।

हैन के बिधी स्वाङ पारेको हो नेपे दाजीले, क्यार्न फेरि "imperfect प्रस्तुति " भन्न परेको होला गाँठे ?

धेरै धेरै राम्रा छन के तपैका रचनाहुर, साठीफिक्री (certificate) नै पाम्नु भो, अब आफैले आफैलाई हेलाँ अर्नी कुरो नअर्नु होला ।
