"Human Rights and the Rule of Law at the cross road in the Political Crisis of Nepal"
A Former Prisoner of Conscience and Veteran Human Rights activist in Nepal, Krishna Pahadi delivered a speech at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco on 13th November 2005.
Mr. Pahadi was detained for nearly five months for his peaceful and legitimate work in defense of human rights in Nepal in February 2005 after the seizure of power by King Gyanendra. One of the most prominent human rights activists, defenders of democracy and freedom of speech, Mr. Pahadi spoke about the current situation on the ongoing domestic conflict of Nepal in the light of current political and human rights crisis during his trip to the bay area.
Almost 40 participants from various walks of life participated in the intetraction. Mr. Pahadi shared why the civil society movement is necessary and important today. He also urged the Nepalese in the Bay Area to suport build a new nepal through contributing by writing letters, sending emals, pressurising the government, organising events and other mediums of IT for the making of a new nepal.
Mr. Pahadi clarigied once again that the political parties cannot and should not join hands with the CPN M as they do not have a clear political ideology and an agenda.
