Speedbird in NY is the way to go if u r around the area. There's one in Ohio too, where i got a good deal but i forget the name of the person. However, it is pretty late to book tickets for december and at the same time get great deals!

Having said that don't let few hundred dollars scare you. The satisfaction of visiting your own home after years far outweighs anything in this world :) well that's how I felt this summer. And when you come back, you realize that Nepal, after all, isn't that far anymore.

I paid 1600, including tax.

But when I last checked the price for a friend of mine, the price for the same route was no where close.

It might be little cheaper if you go after the christmans...not sure though.

Airlines
Virgin Atlantic and Gulf Air

Thanks guys for the information. It really helps. I see all of you have the prices mentioned for how much you paid, but it would also be helpful to know where you bought it from, so that we can contact those agencies as well. I'm also looking to fly around Jan 06.

Peace in the world.

Mamta,

From what I was told recently by a Nepali travel agency: you need to be in person at the consulate. If you are in the Midwest, the consulates are in Chicago and Houston. You can not apply by mail, and it supposedly costs $35, takes about 3 weeks. You may want to google for the HK consulate (NOT the Chinese).

I am not sure if $35 is for a single entry or a double entry transit. Sometime back, I had checked for countries requiring transit visa in HK. Ironically, apart from Nepal, they were mostly African countries. I think Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were the other South Asian countries. Nepal lai kasto lajmardo thau ma jhaareko.

jptsharma,

Do we need transit visa to go via London? Do you have it?

When I last checked the website of the British Embassy, it says you don't need it if you have a valid US visa and a valid airline ticket.

Hope to hear from you.

Hi Guest
I had emailed to the british consulate and he told me that look at the website.
And in website it was written that we don't need the transit visa if we have the valid US visa and valid ticket.I bought the e-ticket from the British Airways to london. I guess i don't need visa. They won't sell the ticket to me if i need the visa.

One of my friends gave me a weired information about Transit visa in UK. What he said was "you may not need a transit visa if you are coming to US with valid Visa and Ticket, but you need a transit visa if your are going back to Nepal from US". Another of my friends is a Permanent Resident of US and still had to get transit visa in UK. He had to delay his flight by a week to get this Transit visa.
