Tripura CM in trouble over human skeleton

From Our Correspondent

AGARTALA: The ruling CPI(M) has rubbished forensic report that the skeletal remains of a girl found at septik tank of the Chief Minister's official residence early this year was dumped into the tank during the tenure of present Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

The report was made public by the Congress who alleged that the Chief Minister was more or less "involved" in the incident."According to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh, the girl , a Nepali, was brutally killed before rape and was dumped into the septic tank of the official residence of the Chief Minister," PCC president Samir Ranjan Barman told reporters at a press conference at Congress Bhavan on Saturday night.

Quoting statements recorded before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in connection with the case, PCC president said the septic tank in the Chief Minister's official residence was cleaned on December 29, 2000."According to official statement, the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had occupied the official residence on March 20, 1998, which indicates that the body was dumped during the Manik Sarkar's tenure," he pointed out.

According to the CFSL investigation, the age of the girl was of a female between 13-14 years and 140-145 cm tall.Meanwhile, the CPI(M) has demanded immediate arrest of PCC president for making false and fabricated statements, spokesman of the party, Goutam Das told reporters at a press conference on Sunday.

Whether that story is true or not, it's certainly plausible, and that's what's wrong. My first reaction is to say kill the moron who did it. As these people tend to be not right in the head, they are generally not subject to the death penalty, right or wrong, anyway. If somebody does something like that, they deserve to die, no doubt about it.... I hear of too many instances of the molester getting out of jail, prison, etc and doing it again. The thought of any child being molested brings me to tears. What a bunch of sick heads....

The truthfulness of this news can be doubted, BUT if it is true then I am shocked to see the inhuman nature of the bast**d who did it. When I read this and saw that the girl was only 13-14, I remembered my baby cousin who is just 13. How can a person even have sexual feelings for a girl so young? And the brutal way they killed her and threw her in a septik tank! A person would have to be the devil himself to perform this kind of disgusting act. Did he not think of his cousins or maybe daughter who are of that age and realize the intensity of his cruelty. Thinking of him sickens me.. and to kill him would be a blessing to him. Amazes me to think about the kind of people that live in this earth-- no conscience, no regret.. nothing!

If this is true then the guilty person has to be hanged to death for commiting such a heinous crime against a minor.

Sure, it's possible to be killed and then raped. Having sex with a dead body is termed necrophilia.
This story is of course fabricated. There shouldn't even be a doubt about this.

I won't assure you the integrity of the correspondent who reported it and the fabrication of the news. However, I read it in this link and thought it necessary to let Sajhabasi know how inhumanely Nepalese in North East of Nepal live their life and their deaths worst than that of a stray dog.

New twist to skeleton recovery case in Tripura
From Our Correspondent
AGARTALA, Dec 12 – In a new twist to the probe into the recovery of human skeleton from a septic tank of the Chief Minister’s official residence early this year, Tripura Pradesh Congress (PCC) president Samir Ranjan Barman claimed that the body of a ‘Nepali girl’ was dumped during the tenure of Manik Sarkar’s tenure only.

On January 4 last, municipal sweepers while cleaning the septic tank of the old quarters of the CM’s official residence recovered a skull, nine bones and a plastic bangle giving enough indication that the remains might have belonged to a girl who was murdered and then dumped into the tank.

The case was being probed into by the CID, which sent the skeletal remains to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh for their scientific comments to identify the victim. The CSFL replied that the victim would be a girl of 13-17 years. Using anatomical and anthropological methods the CSFL also reconstructed a ‘face’.

As Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was staying in the quarters since 1998, Barman claimed it was during his occupancy only the girl was ‘raped, murdered and dumped in the tank in his quarters’. He put the blame on the CM.

In a further twist to the incident, Barman claimed the girl might be a Nepali girl named ‘Reena Thapa’. “I ask the question to the CM who was Reena Thapa and how her family left the state?”, said Barman. He also pointed out that CID made a public appeal seeking information about the same girl. “The CID had hoodwinked people claiming the murdered victim as ‘missing’ at the instance of CM”, claimed the PCC president.

Barman said, Manik Sarkar was ‘very much’ involved in the incident and could not wash his hands off given the fact that a human skeleton was recovered from septic tank of the Chief Minister’s official residence. Most significantly, the CFSL answered six queries out of total 12.

Despite court directives, the remaining queries including date of occurrence is yet to be confirmed by the CFSL.

Meanwhile, the ruling CPI (M) has sharply reacted to the allegation against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The allegations of PCC president Samir Ranjan Barman are false and fabricated and is aimed at misleading the people. He should be arrested immediately for his desperate attempt, CPI (M) spokesman Gautam Das told reporters on Sunday.

“The CID investigation is going in right direction”, he said adding State Government is maintaining transparency in handling the sensational case.

Chief Secretary RK Mathur had approached the Ministry of Personnel Affairs requesting for CBI probe into the incident but the country’s premier investigating agency declined to take up the case after exploring all aspects, he said. “The CBI has recommended that CID be allowed to conduct the probe into the incident.

He also indicated that the party would observe a protest rally throughout the state to counter the baseless allegations made by the PCC president

For those stone hearted ones, more evidences that an innocent sister of ours was brutually killed.

CID not to question Sarkar over skeleton
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
Agartala, Dec. 13: The Tripura CID will not interrogate chief minister Manik Sarkar over the recovery of skeletal remains from his official residence, director-general of police G.M. Srivastava said today.

“The question does not arise because the skull and bones were not recovered from the septic tank of the chief minister’s own quarters but from the septic tank of the staff quarters behind his residence,” Srivastava said.

The Tripura unit of the BJP today waded into the controversy, demanding Sarkar’s resignation over the issue of the recovery of the remains of a teenaged girl from his official residence, reports PTI. It also demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

State BJP president Ranajoy Deb, in a statement, said, “It is clear that the chief minister is directly or indirectly responsible for it, which is a matter of grave concern for the people.” Sarkar should resign as he could influence the inquiry if he continues to hold the post, Deb said.

The skeletal remains were recovered from the septic tank in the chief minister’s residential complex on January 4.

The Left Front government has entrusted the state CID to investigate the matter.

At a news conference organised by the Tripura Journalists’ Union at Agartala Press Club, Srivastava added a new dimension to the raging controversy. He claimed there was nothing new in PCC president and former chief minister Samir Ranjan Barman’s revelations about the identity of the victim.

“The photograph released by Barman was advertised by the state CID for information from the people. However, the name Mina Thapa is an addition,” Srivastava said, adding that it would be in the interest of the state if Barman came forward with whatever he knew about the girl’s identity.
