After temporarily taking executive powers to discipline the country, when the political parties failed to do so, King Gyanendra has indeed made ample demonstrations of his being a peace-loving, democratic and visionary King.

His recent official visit abroad, in the SAARC Summit and in his African visit, the King has added more milestones in his short but impressive tenurek, which undoubtedly benifit Nepal and the Nepalese.

An article by Dr. Susmita Gurung ;

1) The article above is by another dhupaure of the autocrat king waiting for an opportunity to loot the country.
2) There is no Dr. Susmita Gurung at Columbia University--nowhere and in no capacity--and so this is all fake.Perhaps it is drafted by one of king's crooks and they added Dr. and Columbia University for fake credibility. After all, would anybody who has really done some research leading to a Ph.D. and Columbia still consider the dictator a visionary democrat and still be in right mind? Well, if you are a senile like Dr. Khagendra Thapa or a relative like a Dr. Shaha and a Dr. Rana, that's another matter!!! How low can they stoop!!!!

I also went to find out so called dhupare's name at columbia.edu's website. It did not give any matches. But it doesn't matter, and it's good to have someone like bhoonte n' Gurung. But we all want to see them in minor opposition (not even as the main opposition power).

Please guys, if you do not agree with what someone says, its one thing to disagree. But you people are trying to say that Dr. Sushmita Gurung is not in Columbia University? Geez, some people need to get a life.

However, I have not yet read Dr. Gurung's article. Will comment later after finishing reading it.

Orientalgal, read what i wrote earlier. Goto www.columbia.edu and search for gurung and see how many matches u will get. But i already agreed this has nothing to do what she said. In a democratic society, we can incorporate everyone.

from the Tunis speech:

KG says, "While the digital revolution offers real development opportunities for the economies of the World, the digital divide between developed nations and the rest of the world sadly continues to grow. We believe that there should be a mechanism to facilitate meaningful participation on Internet Governance to accomplish the vision of the Declaration of Principles of the World Summit on the Information Society. An International Internet Governance System should be developed to harmonize technical and policy issues to the advantage of the global community. We also wish to add that sustained efforts should be made to ensure participation of developing countries to make the system truly meaningful and effective." [emphasis added]

So, the way the king sees "ensuring particiapation" of nepal to make the International Internet Governance System is to cut access to the internet while he is staging a coup and then banning websites critical of him once he assumes full powers of a dictator?

I see how it is. So impressive and stately indeed.

I found the article impressive indeed. Dr Susmita Gurung has rightly argued that Foreing Minister Pandey has not made enough arrangements to publicize the significant public meeting chaired by the king.

Let me borrow one paragraph from the article:

It was observed that perhaps Nepal wouldn't have been able to achieve those benefits and acclamation in Dhaka and Tunis summits had the king not participated in it. But the Nepalese people are not informed well by the government about these important achievements. One must admit here that Nepal has been able to show her diplomatic tactfulness in those summits and the credits should go to nobody but solely the King.

For once, Nepalese all over the world are proud of who has represented their country in such an international and important forum.

Thanks N Shreshta for the update. Let me also quote a few lines from the article which I find really encouraging.

In Tunisia, the king was requested to chair the summit meeting by the various heads of states and governments who were impressed by his participation as well as the addresses given by him at various regional and international forums.

He doesn't have the mandate from the nepali people to represent nepa and nepalil. he assumed it . so i don't see his relevance, even if is so very great as someone mentioned.

Yea, he might have been asked for chairmanship because it was the minister level meeting. He was not supposed to participate on it. We've already discussed about economics and huge loss to the nation and RNAC by his lavish trip (previous sajha threads). When we want to talk about achievement, we should not miss the main fact i.e. total investment and return from the investment. In this case, I can see LOSS very clearly. We're talking like getting a gift coupon of 100 rupees by spending extra amount of millions of rupees, and trying to highlight that 100 rupees while completely ignoring the fact that we paid millions of rupees for the value worth of 1000 rupees.

For sure the King really knows full benefits of massaging and oiling. The speech is well oiled .
